Green fingers in action at our Therapeutic Gardening Club! 🐛

There is always something growing, buzzing or blooming at The Myriad Centre! 🌱

Our regular Therapeutic Gardening Club has been hard at work keeping our garden spaces healthy, vibrant and alive.

Recently, our clients got hands-on with essential plant maintenance, including spotting and spraying bugs to keep our plants thriving and protected! 🚿🌻

Therapeutic gardening gives our clients a wonderful, multi-sensory way to connect with nature and take pride in caring for a living environment. Watching the garden flourish thanks to their hard work is so rewarding! 🪴

Recently we have been learning all about Italy and Roman history as part of our ongoing understanding the world project 🏺🇮🇹🏛️

Our clients had a fantastic time diving into Italian culture and uncovering some fascinating Roman archaeology. To bring history to life in a fun, tactile way, everyone took part in an interactive spaghetti search, digging through cooked pasta to discover hidden Roman artifacts and treasures! 🍝🔍

Sensory activities like this are a brilliant way to make history engaging and accessible for everyone, stimulating touch, curiosity and conversation.

🐴 Sign of the Week: HORSE 🐴

This month, we are doing something extra special for our sign of the week theme in celebration of the 375th anniversary of the Battle of Worcester! 🏛️

To kick off our Civil War theme, join Natalie as she teaches us the sign for horse! 🐎

Horses played a huge part in the history of the Civil War, from cavalry soldiers to transporting supplies around Worcester. Learning historical and animal signs is a brilliant way to connect local history with fun, visual communication for our clients as we get ready for our upcoming Civil War Experience Day! 📜

Our clients have been continuing to enjoy their regular Forest Club sessions out in nature and recently things got wonderfully messy! 🪵🍂

We traded traditional paints for natural resources and got stuck into some mud painting! Mixing up different textures of soil, water and earth allowed everyone to create fantastic masterpieces directly inspired by the outdoors.

Forest Club gives the people we support a peaceful, grounding space to connect with nature, feel different natural elements beneath their fingers and express themselves without any boundaries.

🪣 Sign of the Week: BUCKET & SPADE 🪣

To wrap up our August summer theme, we are ending on a seaside classic: bucket and spade! 🏖️🏰

Whether building sandcastles, scooping up water or exploring sensory bins at the centre, a bucket and spade are essential tools for summer fun! Visual and tactile signs like this give our clients a great way to talk about building, digging and creative outdoor play.

Explosive fun with our understanding the world project! 🌋

Our clients had a fantastic time recently getting hands on and building their very own erupting volcanoes! 🌋💥

From shaping the landforms to watching the colourful chemical reactions bubble over, this activity was packed full of multi-sensory excitement. It gave everyone a chance to get creative with textures while learning about the forces of nature in a completely interactive way 🎨🔬

Summer cycling smiles at Myriad! ☀️🚲

There is nothing quite like the feeling of the warm summer breeze as you ride! 🌤️

Our clients have been absolutely loving their adaptive cycling sessions this summer, making the most of the sunshine and staying active together.

We want to send a huge, heartfelt thank you to PAL Fitness & Education CIC for running these incredible sessions for us!

You truly make movement accessible, empowering and above all, incredibly fun! Watching our clients build confidence, try out different adapted bikes and beam with pride on every lap is what summer is all about 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️

Here’s to many more happy, active laps in the sun! ☀️

🧺 Sign of the Week: PICNIC 🧺

We are on to week three of our August summer theme and this week we are learning the sign for picnic! 🥪🍓

There is nothing quite like taking our lunch outside to enjoy in the summer sunshine! Picnics are a massive hit with our clients, combining fresh air, socialising with friends and enjoying delicious treats together.

Learning the sign for picnic helps the people we support anticipate outdoor meal times, express their choices and get excited about spending time together in the sun ☀️🍉

Mondays at Sixways Stadium! 🏉

Mondays have become extra special for our clients at Myriad recently! We have been heading over to Sixways Stadium for action packed mornings.

Our clients love exploring around the stadium ground, taking in the sights and atmosphere. On extra lucky days, we even get to watch the Worcester Warriors players during their training sessions and say hello! 🤝

The morning wraps up with a brilliant inclusive session where our clients join other community members with neurological conditions for fun, friendly games of Boccia and multi sports. It’s a wonderful space for making new friends, building confidence and staying active together.

A huge thank you to everyone at Sixways Stadium and Worcester Warriors for making us feel so welcome every single week! 💙
