Happy St George’s Day from all of us at Doris Venner!
The children enjoyed a week learning about St.George’s Day, we retold the legend of St George in a fun, child‑friendly way. They worked together to create large‑scale St George’s flags. We rounded off the celebrations with a picnic in the sunshine, where the children made their own sandwiches, decorated their own hats, and danced the afternoon away. 🐉 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Remembrance Day 2025 Lest We Forget ❤️
Over the last week children have been learning in a child friendly way about the importance of Remembrance Day. We have been learning about the meaning of the poppy.
To mark the 2 minutes silence child friendly at 11:00am today we will be watching ‘Poppies’ on CBeebies. The ladies will be taking part in the 2 minutes silence.
We Will Remember Them ❤️

Thats a wrap for term 2! 🎞️
Here’s a quick snapshot of SOME of the things we have done.
We have had lots of celebrations and festivals this term.
St David’s Day - we used loose parts to make daffodils, cooked Welsh cakes and made a large Welsh flag .
St Patrick’s Day where we made an Irish Flag, practised our Irish Dancing, made leprechauns, used a range of resources to print shamrocks.
Holi fest - this is about friendships and diversity, for this we did our own version of a colour run using powder paint and had a very bright and colourful day.
Valentines Day - we celebrated all different types of love, we spoke about who we love and why.

And of course we had to celebrate the sun coming out and getting to spend lots of time in the garden.

We are so excited to see you all after Easter and wish you all a lovely break 😀

This week is ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’ we will have a range of activities to support children’s understanding of their emotions and how to express them. We also have some activities planned about what makes each of them special. We will be promoting an understanding of diversity and the importance of being unique. ❤️
Our adult guided activity today is supporting children with recognising emotions and using their facial expressions to communicate how they’re feeling 💚 this will be adapted for our older children for them to recognise other people’s feeling and why they may feel a certain way. This will support children to be competent ‘Raving Regulators’ and successful ‘Carers and Sharers’ in line with the DVP Curriculum.
