London Guide Dogs Training School - Redbridge

London Guide Dogs Training School - Redbridge The London Training School - Redbridge was officially opened by HRH Princess Alexandra on the 7th May 1986 - we train guide dogs up to 200 per year.

Guide Dogs’ research found that there are around 180,000 people living in the UK with sight loss that never leave home alone, this is why Guide Dogs’ ‘Building extraordinary partnerships’ strategy aims to help people with sight loss become more mobile no matter their circumstances. Today the organisation has offices and sites across the UK, including; twenty Mobility Teams, four Guide Dog Training

Schools, a National Breeding Centre and a Central Office, which is in Reading. The charity relies on an army of over 10,000 volunteers to enable it to carry out its life changing work, and it has 1,000 dedicated professional staff. Although Guide Dogs may be best known for its world class guide dogs service, it recognises that a guide dog is not the right mobility aid for everyone, due to personal choice, individual mobility levels or lifestyle. Therefore, to enable Guide Dogs to achieve its strategy and assist people with sight loss in continuing their personal mobility journey - from diagnosis to regaining their confidence and independent mobility, it’s developing a range of mobility and rehabilitation services such as white cane training, My Guide and Buddy Dogs.
