Buddies (siblings) had a great day at Lambourne End outdoor activity centre 🤝

Our older Buddies used their balancing and co-ordination skills for the low’s ropes challenge, while our younger Buddies visited the farm animals and learnt how to spin wool.

The afternoon was spent cooling down by swimming and playing water games in the outdoor swimming pool.

Brothers and sisters of children with complex or life-limiting conditions often carry emotions and responsibilities that can feel difficult to express.

Our buddies programme gives them a safe, welcoming place where they can relax, have fun, build confidence and connect with other young people who understand their experiences.

Meet Maria, one of Haven House's nurses.

If you ask Maria what makes her role so special, she’ll tell you it’s the relationships she builds with children and families every day. From welcoming children through our doors to supporting parents, celebrating milestones and creating moments of joy, no two days are ever the same. Yet every day begins with the same promise: to provide expert care with kindness, compassion and understanding.

“Parents place an enormous amount of trust in us. Our job is to give them confidence that, while they’re with us, their child is not only receiving expert care but is happy, safe and surrounded by people who genuinely care. It’s a privilege to be part of their journey.”

Every day, Maria provides specialist clinical care for children with some of the most complex conditions. But it’s the little things that matter too. It’s remembering how a child likes to be greeted. Knowing their favourite song. Celebrating birthdays. Joining in sensory play. Encouraging every achievement, no matter how small.

👟 Lace up your boots and join us for a run that makes a difference.💜

Calling businesses across London! Join us for the Haven House Olympic Park Run on Thursday 24 September at 6pm at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Choose your challenge, 5km or 10km, run (or walk!) and enjoy an evening of fun, music and live entertainment along the iconic route, followed by a mixer at Riverside East.

And while you’re having fun, you’ll be helping us meet a growing need as we support 461 children and 207 new families and providing almost 25,000 hours of nursing care.

Haven House provides families with more than just a holiday.

For Lina, mum to twins Aaron and Amelia, respite care at Haven House has made something possible that once felt out of reach: precious one-to- one time with her daughter, while knowing Aaron is happy, safe and cared for by people she trusts completely.

“We’re a small family of three and we always stick together,” says Lina. “When Aaron’s routine changes during the holidays, life becomes much harder. His autism, ADHD and learning disability mean even a family trip can be overwhelming.”

That’s where Haven House makes all the difference. During Aaron’s respite stays, Lina and Amelia are able to visit family and friends in Lithuania, enjoy time together and create memories that would otherwise be difficult to make.

We’re sorry to let families know that, due to the hot weather forecast, we have made the decision to cancel our *Family Fun Day - Reptile Ranch this Thursday 13 August*.

We know that many parents and carers had let us know they were planning to join us, and we’re very sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause.

The safety and wellbeing of the children, families and everyone attending Haven House is always our priority, and we feel cancelling the event is the safest decision given the expected temperatures.

Thank you so much for your understanding, and please do share this message with any other families who may have been planning to come along. 💜
