18 brave souls met at 4:30 am at Copped Hall for an exclusive Dawn Chorus around the grounds of this historic site. Initially listening to the first awoken birds (Mistle Thrush, Blackbird, Robin) until more species joined in with the symphony including Lesser Whitethroat, Blackcap, Wren, Song Thrush and the sight of a Great Tit delivering grubs to its young in the wall of the ancient house.
An enjoyable experience.

Today is a very special day. Happy 100th birthday to Sir David Attenborough! 🎉

Thank you for showing us the beauty of the natural world, and doing it with such grace and wonder.

Thank you for encouraging us to always look beyond our four walls, showing us that it's right to care for our natural world.

And thank you for taking us to breathtaking landscapes, that really had to be seen to be believed. From journeying through unexplored forests, over vast deserts and wetlands, to giving us a glimpse into the lives of the wildlife that share this planet with us.

For decades, you've inspired generations of nature lovers. And for that, we are eternally grateful.

A very happy birthday, Sir! 🥳

SAVE THE DATE — JOIN THE CLUB

For International Dawn Chorus Day on May 3, we're inviting you to join the Dawn Chorus Club.

All you have to do is get up early, listen to the birds, and share your experience using . Oh, and get the group chat involved, too.

The dawn chorus is when birds sing full pelt in the early morning, establishing territories and attracting mates, and it peaks in spring.

It also happens practically everywhere, so you can even just crack open a window and listen from your bed. We've got events on reserves as well.

So mark your calendar, check your local dawn time, and set your alarms. You won't want to miss this.
