This Spring there are a number of changes to our core team. David and Pat Embery have been central to the running of the Hall for many years. David’s been both our Treasurer and Hall Manager in recent years and Pat has been Booking Secretary for many years, for which we truly thank them. David has now retired as Treasurer. Martyn Shakespeare, already a Trustee of the charity, has taken over as our new Treasurer. We welcome him to the role. Pat has also retired as Booking Secretary. We’re pleased to welcome our new Booking Secretary, Sammy Jo Wright.

We’re also pleased to welcome two new volunteers to the team, Clive and Jane Barker. Clive will be our new Hall Manager from May onwards, with David Embery retiring at our AGM on 30 April. Clive will be ‘shadowing’ David until then. Jane will be helping Clive and getting involved in administration work in due course.

We enjoyed our most successful Community Quiz yet on Saturday 29 November - raising £582 for hall funds. The income from our quizzes helps control our finances and limits the need to raise hire fees.

There'll be three in 2026. The dates are:
- Saturday 28 February
- Saturday 16 May
- Saturday 17 October

If you’re not already on our ‘booking’ mailing list, you can register your interest on our website https://mchall.org.uk/community-quiz-update-with-2026-dates/.

We open the bookings about 5 – 6 weeks before the quiz, so if you’re on our list you’ll know straight away. The quizzes are very popular, so early booking is advised.

Hello, good people of Martlesham (and surrounding)! Martlesham Community Hall is looking for a volunteer Hall Manager, as our current long-term Hall Manager plans to retire at the end of March 2026.

At the end of last year we started running our Community Quizzes, to raise extra funds to help run the Hall whilst keeping a lid on hire fees as far as possible. They’ve proved very popular. Would you like to join us for a fun evening at our next quiz on Saturday 7 December? We opened bookings a few days ago for this quiz and we’ve still got some tables available for teams of 4 - 6, if you’re quick. More details on the poster below.
