Today, Sally was Honoured and proud to have represented Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service with Cindy, from their business support team, at the Ipswich cenotaph.

Harry Howell is commemorated at Thiepval Memorial. Harry was born in Marlesford but moved to Ipswich at the start of the war. He was a territorial soldier before the war and when he died he was a Lance Sergeant, killed at the battle of Bezentin ridge as part of the Somme offensive. He has no known grave which is why his name is inscribed at Thiepval.

A reminder, MarlesfordWW1 invites you to an exhibition in St Andrews Church, Marlesford, over the Armistice weekend to read the stories and see some of the faces belonging to the names listed on the 'roll of honour' but especially those on the memorial plaque that gave their lives during the Great War. There will also be a display of items related to the war to end all wars.

The exhibition will run over two days:
Saturday 10th November 11:00 to 16:00. This day only will be in association with the Marlesford Church group who will be selling tea and cake during the day.
On Sunday 11th November the church remembrance service will take place from 10:30. The exhibition will continue after the service from approximately 12:00 to 16:00.
We look forward to seeing you there.

If you have a connection to any of the Marlesford men and have any photos, letters or memorabilia please bring them along, it would be great to see it.
