Helping to plant fruiting trees in key areas and supporting the construction of bridges over roads to provide safe passage for the tamarins and keep groups in isolated forest fragments connected, thank you so much.

Rodrigo, is now in Rio de Janeiro state after carrying out surveys in Minas Gerais last week. He is in Cordeira where there is a group of marmosets in a precarious situation. There has to be a constant effort to monitor and rescue Buffy tufted ear marmosets if they are in degraded areas and in imminent danger. As the marmoset is found over a large area, often in isolated low grade patches of forest, it is a huge challenge to try to monitor or help all these groups. There is a great need to increase the team of people going out to the last forest fragments where the species can be found

A healthy juvenile buffy tufted ear marmoset at the Conservation Nucleus for callithrix aurita, in Sao Jose do Campos, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The in-country expertise to care for this sensitive endangered monkey is growing, absolutely fantastic to see.

It is absolutely wonderful to see more institutions having success in breeding the buffy tufted ear marmosets in Brazil. These two beautiful little newborns are at the newly established Conservacao do Callithrix aurita, ( the conservation nucleaus for callithrix aurita) in Sao Jose dos Campos. Tamarin Trust has supported the incredible staff and will continue to do so in the future.
Building a conservation assurance population for this species within Brazil is a essential part of the plan to save this amazing marmoset from extinction.
