Recipes of Resilience was never just an exhibition.

It became a space where stories, cultures, memories, food, poetry, and creativity came together through collective resilience.

Over the past several months, refugee, migrant, LGBTQ+, and local Wolverhampton communities co-created workshops, conversations, artworks, and an immersive installation inspired by connection and belonging.

This short film created by Diyodi Menon, captures fragments of that journey.

Thank you to every participant, artist, volunteer, facilitator, partner, and visitor who became part of this project.

This is what community creativity looks like.

After months of workshops, creative cafés, storytelling, filming, collaboration, and community engagement, Recipes of Resilience came together as an immersive arts project celebrating culture, identity, resilience, and human connection.

This short film captures moments from the journey, the people, the artworks, the voices, and the powerful reflections shared throughout the project.

Thank you to all participants, artists, facilitators, volunteers, partners, and visitors who contributed to making this project possible.

Supported using public funding by Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grants.

Watch the film and experience Recipes of Resilience.

“Powerful.”
“Emotional.”
“Immersive.”
“Unforgettable.”

Just some of the words people used after experiencing Recipes of Resilience.

Over the past few days, we have seen people from completely different backgrounds, ages, and communities come into this space, engage deeply with the artwork, ask questions, reflect, connect, and share genuinely emotional feedback.

This project was never about creating a normal exhibition. It was about creating an experience that people could feel.

Here are some real reactions from people who experienced the exhibition firsthand.

These young people came into the exhibition full of curiosity, energy, and respect.

They explored the installations, asked deep questions about art, life, and creativity, experienced a professional photoshoot setup, engaged with the project film, and left some genuinely powerful feedback.

Moments like this remind us why projects like Recipes of Resilience matter. Bringing different young people together into creative spaces where they feel inspired, heard, welcomed, and connected.

Honestly, such a polite and amazing group.

Today, we were honoured to welcome members of the City of Sanctuary team to the Recipes of Resilience Art Exhibition.

From the very beginning of the project, City of Sanctuary played an important role through the Creative Cafés, where food, conversation, culture, and storytelling brought people together.

Here are their reflections after experiencing the final exhibition space.

This was not a normal exhibition.

Recipes of Resilience was an immersive journey through memory, identity, silence, resilience, food, migration, womanhood, and human connection.

Some parts were beautiful.
Some parts were uncomfortable.
Some parts reflected realities many people live through every day.

This exhibition invited Wolverhampton to not just look at art, but to feel it.

Young voices. Honest reflections. Powerful conversations.

Here’s what young people from Wolverhampton had to say about the Recipes of Resilience Art Exhibition, a space where stories, memories, identity, and resilience were brought together through art.

This is more than an exhibition. It is a shared experience.
