All well and ready to be released πŸ’–

The badger from Cannock is on his way home. He’s just been picked up by Steve from
Staffordshire Badger Group ❀️ 🦑

14/03/2026

This poor badger came in after being hit by a car in Cannock, however that’s not his only issue. He has a bite to his head, most likely from another badger, resulting in scabbing one side and an abscess and wound the other.

He luckily has no broken bones from the car collison, although he had a big headache. Our vet has given him an injection of an antibiotic called convenia, which will remain in his system for two weeks to treat the infection. He’s also underweight so may have been ousted from the sett. We will liaise with Staffordshire Badger Group going forward regarding release but for now he’s safe, warm and fed until he’s better.

🦑 Happy National Badger Day! / Dydd y Moch Daear yn Genedlaethol Hapus!

From the ancient name broch to their place in Welsh folklore, badgers are woven into the story of our land. These remarkable eco-engineers have shaped our landscapes for thousands of years β€” and we believe they belong here for thousands more.

Across England and Wales, we’re celebrating everything that makes badgers iconic β€” their strength, their spirit, and their vital role in our ecosystems.

That’s why our CYMRU: Badgers Belong Here campaign is championing stronger protections for badgers and their setts across Wales and our End The Cull campaign aims to stop the horrendous cull and protect badgers in England.

🐾 Celebrate today by learning more about these incredible animals and email your MP to attend the Parliamentary debate on the Badger Cull on the 13th October! β€” together we can keep badgers where they belong: wild, safe, and free.

PLEASE take action! This is unthinkable- thank you.

The government’s new Planning Bill is nothing short of a death sentence for badgers.

πŸ‘‰ Part 6 will rip up the Protection of Badgers Act 1992 β€” a law that has safeguarded these animals and their setts for more than 30 years.

πŸ‘‰ If this Bill passes, developers will have the legal power to kill badgers if they’re seen as an obstacle to building projects.

πŸ‘‰ Decades of hard-won protection will be torn away in the name of β€œprogress”, handing wildlife over to bulldozers.

We cannot let this become law. Badgers don’t have a voice in Parliament, but you do.

πŸ“’ Use our quick tool to email your MP and demand they scrap the Bill: https://protectthewild.org.uk/stop-the-planning-bill/
