1349 Woking Squadron is a Royal Air Force Air Cadets Squadron based in the centre of Woking.

Open Evenings - Thursday 25 June and Tuesday 14 July
Our cadets are taught a wide variety of skills, spanning from fieldcraft, first aid, sports, music, and drill. We even teach cadets how to fire weapons, develop leadership skills and even how to fly! Where else can you do that?
"Air Cadets has been a great adventure so far. I’ve been lucky enough to fly a Grob Tutor at RAF Benson, which was the most amazing experience. I’ve also joined several expeditions - Dartmoor, Wales and the Peak District to name a few. But most of all I’ve gained a new group of friends that I’ve been able to share these experiences with." This National Volunteers’ Week 🇬🇧(1-7 June 2026) we are celebrating the incredible contribution of our volunteers - the people who help run the Squadron. 🥾 Peak District Expedition 🥾

Last weekend a group of 1349 Cadets and Staff went on an expedition to Peak District.
Everyone had a lot of fun and enjoyed it thoroughly!

Cadet Findlay says:

“On Friday the 8th of May, 11 cadets were able to have the opportunity to go to The Peak District on a three day expedition.

It was absolutely phenomenal. The sights were out of this world. You could see miles of nature in every direction from the top of Bleaklow on the mountain. The walks weren’t too difficult thankfully and although the weather was very temperamental- it was only ever horrific when we weren’t walking on the hills.

The Peak District provided a great opportunity to learn outdoor skills and lots about the area such as the B-29 bomber site that we visited, the Dambusters and the scary stories about the place.”

🏅Inter-Squadron Athletics Competition 🏃‍♂️

Last Sunday, cadets from 1349 attended the Annual Inter-sqn Athletics Competition to compete in various sports. Although we didn’t place this year, quite a few cadets won some medals. The medals were given for the following:

U18 Men’s:
• Cpl Wilson - 2nd Relay, 2nd 100m 2nd High Jump, 1st 800m
• Sgt Bitri - 2nd Relay, 1st 1500m

U16 Women’s:
• Cdt Mouliere-Reiser - 2nd Relay, 2nd 1500m
• Cdt Lima - 2nd Relay
• Cdt Machinguata - 2nd Relay

Overall, every cadet had lots of fun and a great time!

🥾 Peak District Expedition 🥾

Last weekend a group of 1349 Cadets and Staff went on an expedition to Peak District. Everyone had a lot of fun and enjoyed it thoroughly!

Cdt Nicholas says:

“The Peak District expedition was really something. We went hiking across the hills and saw some amazing views. One of the best parts was seeing the big dams around there. We also walked to the B29 crash site, which was really interesting because it gave us a sense of what happened in the past.

We all took turns to talk about the history of the area for 2 minutes, where we had to stand up and speak in front of everyone. This was a way to share our thoughts and make sense of what we were doing. The Peak District expedition was a much appreciated time outdoors, with a good balance of hard work and exciting things to see. The Peak District expedition had a lot of variety which made it really fun.”

With another two months of the year gone, we take a moment to review some of the activities the Squadron has been involved in as spring arrives. Five of our NCOs attended the Surrey Wing JNCO & SNCO courses. 31 of our cadets attended the South Downs Orienteering competition. Our first Bronze Space Badge has been awarded to Cadet Sgt Bitri as we start our formal Blue Space studies on the Squadron as part of our STEM activity. We had a great parade to celebrate our Hawk Flight Pass Out following completion of their initial training. As part of our 85th anniversary celebrations we marked our official formation date 06/04/1941. We had fun and games on a social evening with an Inter-flight Murder Mystery evening arranged by the NCO’s.
Two promotions to Cadet Sergeant for Corporals Denishev and Kelly. Flt Sgt Potter & CWO received certificates at the Surrey Wing awards night. Two of our cadets were selected for Summer Camp at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland. Last weekend Staff & Cadets attended a Region Bronze Fieldcraft weekend at Minley. The next couple of months look to be just as busy. Our Story Continues …

1349 (Woking) Squadron staff & cadets took part in the Region Bronze Fieldcraft weekend at Minley this weekend. Cadets are taught weapon handling skills as part of a structured programme of supervised training that emphasises safe and responsible use.
