This time of year can be extremely difficult for men experiencing domestic abuse.

Abuse doesn’t always look the way people expect. For many men, it is emotional, psychological, or controlling behaviour such as isolation from friends or family, monitoring, intimidation, or being made to feel unsafe in their own home.

In the UK, around one in three victims of domestic abuse are men, yet many never speak out. Fear of not being believed, shame, concern about children, or not knowing where to turn can keep men suffering in silence.

The Christmas period can make abusive situations feel even harder to cope with or escape. Reduced access to services, more time spent at home, financial pressure, and the expectation to “keep things together” can increase isolation and stress.

Help For Men UK was created to make it easier to find the help you need.

If you are experiencing domestic abuse or think you might be there are confidential services and specialist organisations that understand what men go through and can offer support, advice, and guidance.

You deserve to feel safe. You are not alone.

Every year in the UK, hundreds of thousands of fathers spend Christmas without their children.

Following separation, many dads become the non-resident parent and studies show that a significant number have limited or no regular contact with their children. For some, contact breaks down completely.

Being apart from your children at Christmas can be deeply distressing and isolating.

Help For Men UK exists to make it easier for fathers to find the help they need, whether that’s family court guidance, fathers’ rights support, or confidential advice services for men across the UK.
