A busy few weeks for St John Ambulance Hampshire & Isle of Wight Youth. 💚🚑

It's been an exciting few weeks for our young people across Hampshire and Isle of Wight, with many opportunities to represent our organisation, develop leadership skills, explore our history and celebrate everything that makes our programme so truly special.

Here's a look at some of the fantastic activities we've undertaken:

Law Sunday at Wi******er Cathedral
- We were so honoured to see St John Ambulance represented at the Law Sunday Service hosted by the High Sherrif of Hampshire, with one of our cadets escorting the Mayor of Wi******er. This truly highlights our wider youth community at this prestigious occasion.

County Council Meeting
- Our Social Media Cadets took centre stage at our recent County Council meeting on Wednesday, leading a segment about their progress, achievements and development within the county. It was a fantastic time for them to showcase their work and the impact young people can have on our organisation as well as their local communities.

Cadet Leadership at Fort Purbrook
- A number of Cadets from both Hampshire and Isle of Wight and Sussex desended to Portsmouth for Cadet Leadership Level 1 and Level 2 (CL1 and CL2) courses, developing their leadership, teamwork and communication skills while also building confidence to take on new responsibilites.

Badgers exploring the history of St John
- Recently our Portsmouth Badger Sett got creative by making their own shields while exploring the history of St John as part of their St John Family. This was a brilliant way to combine hands-on activities whilst learning about our herritage which makes us such a special organisation.

National Cadet Week
- On Saturday 10th October, young people came together at Portsmouth Historic Quaters for the first ever National Cadet Week, celebrating the achievements, opportunities and positive impact of Cadets. It was a splendid opportunity to recognise the contributions young people make to their communities and to St John Ambualnce.

From representing our organisation at formal events to developing future leaders and getting creative at local evenings, our young people continue to demonstrate the enthusiasim, commitment and community spirit that make St John Ambulance Youth so special.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is responding to an increasing number of 999 calls relating to bonfires, barbecues and other potential fire risks.

With hot, dry conditions, fires can spread rapidly and put people, property and our countryside at serious risk. Recent wildfires in the New Forest have shown just how quickly a small fire can become a major incident.

🚨 Please only call 999 in a genuine fire emergency.

Call 999 immediately if:
🔥 You discover a fire
💨 Smoke or flames are visible
🏠 There is an immediate risk to life or property
🌲 A fire is spreading or is likely to spread

If you see a fire in the countryside, move to a safe location and call 999. Do not put yourself at risk trying to tackle a fire.

Please help us keep our communities, countryside and emergency services safe this summer.

From 25th July to 1st August 2026, cadets across the South East region had the amazing opportunity of attending the yearly camp, located in Hailsham.
This camp held a variety of activities ranging from banger racing to swimming, alongside completing grand prior subjects within the theme of being stranded on an island.
As always, this camp wouldn’t be possible without the support of our amazing adult volunteers, we thank every one of you who was apart of this experience and made it possible!

🔴⚠️ A Red Heat-Health Alert has been issued across the Midlands and southern England until 25 June. This is the highest level of alert and indicates a risk to everyone's health, not just vulnerable groups. Northern England is under an Amber alert.

In honour of men’s mental health awareness month this June, read this poster to remind yourselves and others that it is okay for a man to speak up about their emotions and how they feel!
It’s vital that we reduce the stigma around men’s mental health; they feel just as well as everyone else!

It's been a busy week for St John Ambulance Hampshire and Isle of Wight following the incredible honour of St John Ambulance being chosen as the Mayor of Wi******er's Chosen Charity for the year. 💚

On Wednesday, our County Comissioner, Fizz; County Fundraising and Priory Officer, Ian; and Cadet Sergeant Ryley attended the Wi******er City Council 827th Mayor Making Ceremony, where Ryley was offically appointed as the Mayor's Cadet for the next year.

Today, we were proud to attend the Mayor's Mattins Service at Wi******er Cathedral, where Ryley took part in the civic procession alongside local dignatries and community representatives. During this service, the County Commissioner took part in reading a prayer.

☀️ The Met Office has today issued an Amber Heat Health Alert for this weekend and into next week, with temperatures expected to exceed 30°C across much of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Hot weather can affect anyone, but older people, young children, and those with underlying health conditions are particularly at risk. Please remember to:

💧 Stay hydrated
🧴 Wear sunscreen
🕶️ Avoid prolonged time in direct sunlight during peak hours
🏠 Keep homes cool where possible
👥 Check in on vulnerable friends, neighbours, and relatives
