At our meeting on 16th April we were delighted to welcome two guests from Wi******er District Citizens Advice service. We learned how the service now operates and how it could be accessed; also what sort of advice or direction could be provided. Later Shane came along to lead the seated exercise session, followed by refreshments and free time to chat, draw or play table top games. Our next meeting will be on Thursday 7th May, usually time and place.

At our first meeting in March, we welcomed Jack Broughton, a student at Wi******er University, to talk to us about his thesis and how our members may be able to help him compile data on access to physiotherapy after a stroke.

A game of charades started off this meeting - so good that everyone joined in and had a go. Later we had Steve Feeney from Wi******er Rotary UK with us, making a 5 minute radio program about us, to be broadcast on Wi******er Radio in March

First meeting of 2026, Sue's daughter, Carrie, came to talk about her 8 days in India. Not a holiday travel talk - Carrie was attending a conference on medical simulation techniques and technologies, including role-playing 'patients', used in the training of future doctors, nurses and therapists. A most interesting topic.

A Happy New Year to our members and volunteers. Our first meeting of 2026 is taking place on Thursday 15th January at our usual time and venue - 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the Simeon Room at Christ Church, Christchurch Road, Wi******er SO23 9SR. Car parking is available. The fee for each session is £3.

Ian will be leading, and we have a speaker, Carrie, to talk to us about 'A trip to India'. After the talk, Shane will be with us to lead the seated exercises session.

Refreshments will be available as usual, then after the refreshments there will be some free activity time for chatting, table-top games or to participate at the art table.

Looking forward to meeting everyone again.

There are NO MORE MEETINGS this year (2025) - the Christmas lunch was held instead of the Thursday meeting this week. In 2026, please note that the first Thursday in January, which would normally be a meeting date, is New Year's Day, so again we will NOT be open that day. Our first meeting of 2026 is therefore Thursday 15th January, usual time and place.

The committee recently decided to delete from our email distribution list any recipients who have seldom or never attended a meeting this year. You can still follow us on Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/Wi******erSSC/ ), and reapply at any time.

I would like to wish all members and volunteers a very happy Christmas and best wishes for a good New Year.

Looking forward to seeing you 15th January.

One of our members celebrated a 'significant birthday' in November and received some flowers plus our best wishes.
