We understand that for so many of us with caring responsiblities it can be very difficult to feel part of a charity's work or fundraising so this something carefully chosen that can be done at home whenever you can find a moment to be creative and mindful.

What does my scarf need to be like?
🧣Your scarf should be 30cm/1 foot wide and can be any length (the longer the better).
🧣It can be any yarn, any stitch and any pattern.
🧣It can be any colour, plain or with stripes or spots. The Lewy Body Society’s brand contains dark and light blue, with polka dots, but don’t feel you have to stick to these!

Please do send scarves as you finish them - it will make our lives easier. There is no need to wait until 2027!

Five years after the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan, the de facto authorities have issued more than 100 decrees stripping women and girls of their rights, freedoms and dignity.

No other country has so systematically dismantled the rights of half its population.

UN Women continues standing with Afghan women and girls to ensure their voices, priorities and needs remain at the heart of the global response — so they can live with dignity, have their rights respected and help shape a better future for their country.

Meet Frank Jr, our paw-sitively amazing therapy dog and his wonderful owner, Janet, who also volunteers with us! 🐶

Frank Jr has been at Wigan Hospital this morning, bringing comfort, companionship and lots of tail wags to patients, visitors and colleagues.

Therapy dogs can make a huge difference to wellbeing, helping people feel calmer, more relaxed and a little brighter during their day. Judging by the smiles he received, Frank Jr was a big hit! 💙

Thank you, Frank Jr, for helping make our hospital a happier place, one pawprint at a time 🐾

Local champions appointed to lead £20m investment across communities 🤩

With strong links to the local community, Chris Fairhurst has been appointed as the independent chair of the Pride in Place board in Marsh Green and Laithwaite, while local hero Lisa Aldred will lead the board in Platt Bridge and Spring View

Both chairs will be responsible for driving forward £20m of government funding over a ten-year period, with the aim of giving local people the power to decide how best to spend the investment and make improvements to their community

The rest of the board will be made up from residents, businesses, stakeholders, and representatives from the voluntary sector, while public surveys remain ongoing to listen to public feedback 🤝

Healthwatch England is carrying out research to understand people’s experiences of leaving hospital and identify where the discharge process could be improved for patients and their carers.

If you or someone you care for has been discharged from hospital within the past year, Healthwatch wants to hear from you. Your experience can help highlight what works well, what could be better, and what support people need when leaving hospital.
