🌱🌿COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP & GREEN SPACE ROUND-UP (13 June edition!)🌿🌱

Welcome to this week's (slightly late!) round-up:

🌺For Monday, we litter-picked and cleared weeds and debris on Pem highstreet and the Church St carpark behind. We cleaned more graffiti off metal shutters too, and tried to clean some off a wall too but it was quite stubborn! Thank you Kyle, Alison and Martin form your efforts!

🌺On Tuesday, we had learners from GroundWork join us at the From Coal to Colour project. We removed weeds from the carpark kerbside to neaten things up. We also added new native plants, including some kindly donated by The Community Patch CIC .

🌺Tony and Kyle led a Thursday evening litter pick, working along from the Railway pub to Primrose Farm. With thanks for Alison and Julia for coming to help, between them they collected 11 BAGS in total along with an abandoned sign, broken plastic storage box and 2 nitrous oxide gas canisters. Alison and Julia also took two carrier bags of dumped beer cans home for recycling that were left by the former Hare & Hounds pub.

🌺You might have seen we had to move some shrubs on Procare side the From Coal to Colour project. This was the only way to provide access for a sign refresh on the Procare building (you might have spotted the contractors having fun trying to convince a cherry picker up the slope😆🤣). We're busy putting the few shrubs affected back and neating everything up again.

Next Monday (15th) we're planning to be back at the From Coal to Colour project, to continue getting ready for the RHS competition. If you would to join us, please get in touch🙂

♻️🌱COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP & GREEN SPACE ROUND-UP (5 June edition!)🌱♻️

As promised, here is the latest round up of activities to make Pemberton greener, cleaner and more pleasant for all:

🌿Yesterday we had a litterpick around the Halfway House area, and also tackled pavement weeds in the area too! Huge thank you to Martin, Alison, Cllr Matthew Lambert , Julia and Ann for your help, and to Tony and Kyle for organising.

🌿I got out during a brief dry spell to mow and strim the grass on the From Coal to Colour project.

🌿Massive, happy daisies! Not an activity as such, but it's currently hard to miss the ox-eye daisies growing round the carpark on the From Coal to Colour project. These are UK native wildflowers and clearly very happy where they are growing.

🌿Amanda got out again tackling the litter on Queen Street behind KFC and Divinos.

🌿Our parent group Pemberton Community Association is bringing together volunteers to restore St Johns church graveyard. Please visit their page if you can help, or want to donate towards equipment and materials for the restoration.

🌿 Pemberton Community Associationare also looking for helpers with the memorial garden on Chapel St. We have offered to help with this, but it would great to get some fresh faces involved - please contact the Association if that fresh face could be you!

🌼🌼NEXT GROUP SESSION & A REQUEST FOR HELP🌼🌼

Hey all! Thank you so much to those who came the litterpick last night. I'll publish a proper post with some pics as part of the regular 'round up' shortly. But in the meantime, I wanted to share two things:

Our next volunteer session will be on Monday:

🗓️ When: 1pm, Monday 8 June 2026
📍Where: Meet outside Tesco Express, Ormskirk Rd, WN5 8AT
🚮 Activity: Litterpick & clearing away debris and weeds around the highstreet area

Next, could you help us in June to get the 'From Coal to Colour' project ready for the RHS 'In Bloom' competition? We're looking for mowers, weeders and litter-picking wombles! We'll intending to put some group sessions on in June focusing on getting the project looking the best it can. So extra hands either in the group sessions or at a time that suits you would be super appreciated!!

If you would like to support either of above, please leave a comment or message🙂.

Thank you and let's keep getting Pemberton cleaner, greener and more pleasant for all💚

To help celebrate this week, can we show some love for our volunteers?

I'm incredibly grateful to all who help out, either taking part in our volunteer sessions, helping organise or input on what the group is doing or supporting us in other ways. THANK YOU - it all helps with improving the outdoors in Pemberton and the group wouldn't really exist without you!

Particular shout-out to our regular volunteers Martin, Alison, Kevin, and also to Tony, Kyle, Dave and my husband Chris for everything you do behind the scenes💚
