🍁🍃COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP & GREEN SPACE ROUND-UP (17 Oct edition)🍃🍁

Happy weekend guys - here's what we've been up to the last few days....

🍁On Sunday, Kyle and Martin were clearing debris, weeds and litter from Church Street carpark in Pemberton. They also picked up litter along Ormskirk Road to and from Procare, Enfield Street !

🍁We had a session where Ange, Kyle, Alison, Kev and Martin picked along Brook Lane, Hall Lane AND Leopold Street. We totally underestimated how long Leopold St is😂😂 We collected around 10 bags of litter, and gathered up dumped large nitrous oxide canister, a kitchen pan (?!), wooden pallets and a barrel of floor sealant. We also stopped to admire the rural path created and cared for by Mick, and a beautiful little gravel garden near the Enfield St end of Leopold🥰

🍁Wednesday saw Kyle, Martin and Alison back out tackling more of the litter and weeds along the highstreet.

🍁Ange got out on a lunchtime pick along part of Enfield St and Ormskirk Rd.

How nice is this - spotted at Berkeley Gardens Care Home, Ellesmere Rd over the weekend🥰🎨 I think I might have been hiding under a rock and it's been there a while😂😂 But we occasionally ponder doing something similar on the carpark walls at the From Coal to Colour project - what do you think? Would you like to see more outdoor artwork like this in Pem?

🍂🍄COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP & GREEN SPACE ROUND-UP (11 Oct edition)🍄🍂

**Edited to add a few more photos that we took over the week☺️**

It's been a busy one this week! Here's what we've been up to:

🍄 In our Monday session myself, Martin, Alison, Kev and Kyle tackled around Smethurst Lane and Chapel St. It's a nice stretch of trees along here but oh my goodness there were so many drinks bottles/cans and bags of rubbish! We collected around 12 bags of litter, plus some large items. This area was a tricky one to tackle with no path on one side - and we definitely recommend only litter picking where it's safe to do so. It was good to get so much rubbish out of our community though - fingers crossed the benefit lasts a while.

🍄Alison has additionally been litter picking along part of the main road near Halfway House.

🍄 On Thursday, Kyle, Alison and Martin were back out litter picking and cleaning around the highstreet area and carparks behind. Thank you Mindful Events for the shout out while the gang were out for this session.

🍄 You might have also seen Kyle and Martin out on Sunday afternoons too doing more weeding and clearing - these guys are a mission!💪

A group in Wigan aren't just greening up their area, they're cleaning it up, too.

Pemberton Community Association launched a Green Spaces Fund project with a grant of just £4,667.

They’ve enhanced lots of neglected spaces in a busy residential area by planting thousands of bulbs and wildflowers.

However, a big part of their work revolves around litter-picking: slightly less glamorous than all the colourful planting but no less vital to our communities.

Here's to funding a cleaner, greener, and better connected Greater Manchester 🌱

Litterpick, meeting outside the Lean Kitchen (42 Brook Lane, WN5 8JG), to tackle Brook Lane and Hall Lane.

All sessions start at 1pm as usual. We'll be on a break at half term, so there will be no session on 26 Oct.

🌿🌱COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP & GREEN SPACE ROUND-UP (3 Oct edition)🌱🌿

Hey all! Here's the latest green and clean activities that have been happening around Pem. As always, if you have been helping care for our outdoor spaces, please add it in the comments😊

🌼On Monday Alison, Ann, Ange, Kyle, Kev and Martin were community gardening at the From Coal to Colour project on Enfield St. Martin and Kev did weeding and tidying, while I (Ange) worked on compost heaps we have. Alison and Anne litter picked around the whole area and we finally added our lovely rockart from the event we did a while back around the flowerbeds by Procare. See if you can spot them next time you're by the garden! Kyle and I also tended to some of the carpark flowerbeds, including adding some more aquilegia plants, as they seem to do well there!

🧹Thursday saw Kyle, Alison, Ann and Martin back tackling weeds and litter around the top of Pem. The carparks behind the shops, the high street and part of Fleet St were all given attention🧐

💰Kyle and Ben successfully pitched for funding from Grass Roots of Wigan - GRoW to add more bulbs around Pemberton.

🚮Alison has also been out litter picking around Halfway House.

♻️Last but not least, Regan helped remove lots more litter from the top of Leopold Street earlier this week.

Thank you everyone who has been helping care for our outdoor spaces this week💚👏👏 I was out and about in Pem yesterday and noticed how clean it was, it was really nice to see! There are still bits that could be improved, but I think the difference is noticeable and makes the area feel so much nicer to be in - do you agree?
