We were able to be part of this a few weeks ago - and in fact service users have played a part in designing the training too. Such a great training session - and the fact that service user voice plays an important role is really refreshing

Today, we want to say a very special thank you to Cathy Stanford, the outgoing Director of Midwifery at WWL.

Today marks the end of an era. Cathy has given an incredible 50 years of service to WWL, starting her career as a student and spending the last six years or so as the leader of Maternity and Child Health.

Throughout her remarkable career, Cathy has overseen countless changes, worked alongside thousands of NHS colleagues, and, most importantly, been part of the maternity journeys of thousands of women and their families.

Her dedication, leadership, kindness and commitment have made a lasting difference to so many people across our community.

On behalf of the families of Wigan Borough, thank you, Cathy, for everything you have done throughout your extraordinary career.

Wishing you every happiness for the next chapter. 💜

We’re out and about again this week gathering feedback in the community. Come and say hello if you spot us (I’m at The Meadows family Hub this morning!) The Family Hubs have so much going on - free baby sessions, all kinds of support for families and activities for the whole family. They’re spread all across the Borough too

This morning was the official re-opening of the Pearl Suite at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. The bereavement suite has been refurbished with generous donations from Three Wishes Charity, local businesses and families and staff fundraising.

It’s been a lovely project to play a small part in and the Trust have really taken the time to listen to service user feedback to make sure the room is as comfortable as possible during what is a very upsetting time.
