When teamwork makes the dreamwork...
We loved supporting N-Vision sight loss charity in Blackpool this week, getting some big jobs out the way to help them start their very own Green Community Hub on site for their service users and residents.

Thanks to NW Ltd, Beaverbrooks the Jewellers and our own Grow Blackpool volunteers and staff for getting stuck in and getting the job done! 💚🪴🪏✅

It’s easy to forget just how important moths are to our ecosystems. There are around 2500 species in the UK, and they play a huge role as pollinators and as food sources for birds and other wildlife. Many species are now in decline, but green community hubs can make a big difference!

We 💚 the Magical Moths guide - it's full of accessible ideas for supporting moths and other nocturnal pollinators, with identification tips and activities such as this lovely guide to moth watching! Head to the Wild About Gardens website or search "magical moths" to see the full resource.

🌿 It’s National Hedgerow Week!

Hedgerows are living ecosystems. They shelter wildlife, support pollinators, store carbon and can even become abundant sources of food, medicine, and materials for our communities.

For those of us involved in green community hubs, hedgerows are a powerful (and often overlooked) tool for building resilience and biodiversity into our spaces.

✨ This week is a great time to notice (and appreciate!) the hedges around you. Why not learn how to plant or restore a hedgerow in your growing space? If you want to dig deeper, check out Hedgelink website for a wealth of resources on the topic.

This June, we’re bringing together green community hubs across the network to host summer events - and we’d love your hub to be part of it! We can offer up to £100 to support your event as part of this programme.

☀️ What kind of event can it be?
Anything that feels like summer in your space. This could be a bioblitz, community open day, music jam, plant swap, shared meal, or something more experimental. If it brings people together outdoors, it fits.

☀️ What does being part of the programme involve?
Together, we’ll connect your event into the wider network of summer activities. This includes a contribution of £100, promotion through our channels and branded materials. In return, we’ll ask you to take some pictures, let us know attendance and write a short description of what took place.
