It’s that time of year again!

Today our yearlings went into part of Lower Woods Nature Reserve, next door, as part of Gloucestershire Wildlife’s Trusts conservation grazing project, which we’re proud to be apart of.

Keep an eye out for Annie, Alice, Alfred, Arnold, Faith, Flora, and Lolly as you explore the ancient woodlands.

A big thankyou to Dobbies garden centre in Thornbury for awarding us £500 worth of equipment to kick start our green social prescribing sessions which start next week, in association with the Sustainable Food Trust and the College of Medicine. This marks the next step towards bringing people onto the farm with community engagement for nature connection, wellbeing and land based education.

After a day in the barn to get used to having the head collars on, we let the yearlings out of the barn today. A cool new feature has been added where we can see a replay of where they've been on their wanderings! As you can see, the virtual boundary was switched on in the middle of the day, closely matching the real fenced boundary. They get an audible beep, increasing in pitch as they approach the virtual boundary and then a shock if they reach it. If last year was anything to go by, it won't take long for them to get used to the way it works, so that electric shocks become a rare occurance. The app makes it really, really easy to keep track of whats going on. We'll give it a week or two before they are let into the woods.
