A minor shunt around of vehicles today.
Volvo Ailsa A101 SUU and Kenzies Plaxton Bedford coach HFL 14W swapped places in the shed, as 14W will be heading off for a couple of weeks, for maintenance work.
Meanwhile, we got stuck into further work on our Mammoth Major tanker. Certainly not a weekend project, but progress is progress.

Another quiet day pottering around at WRBG hq.
With the radiator for 6300 away getting repaired, we cracked on with cleaning the rest of the parts for the cooling system. Elbow grease, patience and tea made the job well worthwhile. We can't wait to get these parts painted.
Whilst the sun was shining, we let our resident Bedford ambulance, London ambulance service 4232, D232 VPM out for a while. A bit more sanding was also ticked off the 'to do' list.

A Fond Farewell to Leyland Lynx 252 (C920 FMP)

The owners of West Riding Leyland Lynx 252 (C920 FMP) have recently made the very difficult decision to sell this much-loved vehicle.

This was not a decision taken lightly. Due to changing circumstances and the vehicle seeing limited use within the group, it was felt it was only right to ensure it would not be left to stand idle or deteriorate over time. We are therefore pleased to share that it has found a new home locally with Dewsbury Bus Museum.

Since joining us in February 2024, this vehicle has brought not only enjoyment, but real pride and countless special memories to our group. It has been a pleasure to own, care for, and see it appreciated by so many of you. Saying goodbye is never easy, but we take great comfort in knowing it will continue to be preserved, cherished, and enjoyed—creating new memories while also rekindling those from years gone by.

While it marks the end of its time with us, its story is far from over.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported, visited, and showed interest in the vehicle during its time with White Rose Bus Group.

So today we decided to put buses on the back burner and have a trip out to Pickering and Thornton-le-Dale, to visit Mathewsons classic car auction house. We are not just about buses here at WRBG, we love our cars too.
Unfortunately due to poor planning on our part, the Pickering viewing was closed today.
We therefore decided to head up to Thornton Le Dale and visit the shop, and the very impressive museum there.
Lovely cars, bikes and memorabilia all on show. It was an extra bonus to meet the man himself, Derek.
We will be heading back probably next month after we've planned it a bit better 😆

We came across a nice suprise a week or so ago, when we were offered the original number plates that came off 6300.
Goodness only knows where they've been hiding all this time, but a big thanks to Dale for sourcing these for us.
A little work to do on them, but we couldn't resist getting the rear one fitted. The front will be fitted in due course.

Not much to report this week apart from the radiator from 6300 going away for repair, and the fan unit being prepared for paint. New belts also ordered along with other ancillaries. Hopefully she will be out and about fighting fit by the end of this month

Busy day in the Shed again today 🔧

🚌WYPTE 6300:
Radiator strip-down completed today following quite a struggle with seized steel fixings in cast aluminium tanks. Further inspection has confirmed the radiator core is completely shot and will require replacement.

🚌Barnsley & District 205:
Great progress made on the offside pillar bottoms, which have now been replaced. This was followed by a round of painting on the structure, and more panels have begun to be reattached by the owner.

🚌Kenzies HFL 14W – Plaxton Supreme Bedford YMQ:
The owner of 14W was on site today carrying out preventative maintenance — needle gunning and cleaning the chassis in preparation for a fresh coat of silver paint.

Another productive day keeping things moving forward 💪

The White Rose Bus Group are saddened to hear of the passing of David Hudson today.
David was a stalwart of the bus preservation scene in West Yorkshire and his knowledge and enthusiasm for bus preservation will be greatly missed.
We'd like to extend our heartfelt condolences and sadness to David's family and friends.
Keys up driver, shift over 🫡
Rest in peace David.
From everyone at WRBG.
