⭐ West Coast Arts – May Double Bill
Two brilliant nights of live music are heading to the West Coast this May — from one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary music to a duo keeping Scotland’s musical heritage vibrantly alive.

🎤 Sarah McQuaid — 16 May, Gairloch
“One of the most instantly recognisable voices in current music.” — Trust The Doc
With her lush, chocolatey vocals and warm, engaging stage presence, Sarah McQuaid creates an intimate, immersive experience. Her “subtle mastery onstage” (Huffington Post) and “brilliant musicianship” (fRoots) shine across acoustic and electric guitars, piano and even occasional percussion.
Born in Spain, raised in Chicago, holding dual Irish–American citizenship and now based in rural England, Sarah brings a rich, eclectic background to her “captivating, unorthodox songwriting” (PopMatters). Her acclaimed St Buryan Sessions capture her artistry beautifully — but her music is something that truly needs to be experienced live.

🎶 The Sorries — 30 May, Aultbea
The Sorries — multi‑instrumentalists Douglas Kay and Martin Philip — are a Scottish folk duo dedicated to celebrating and preserving Scotland’s rich musical heritage. Their performances blend traditional instruments, tight harmonies and engaging storytelling, drawing from the Scottish songbook, oral tradition and their own original compositions.
Since their Edinburgh debut in 2006, they’ve toured widely across the UK and internationally, including annual sell‑out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a headline appearance at Moscow’s Samhain Festival. With seven albums and global radio play, their music continues to reach audiences far beyond the stage.
Offstage, they’re passionate educators, delivering school workshops and producing The Scottish Song Guide podcast, exploring the history and meaning behind the songs they champion.
