Last week, not even the rain could dampen the spirits of our Cubs! 🌧️ 🛡️
Despite the downpour, the pack showed off their survival skills by building some impressive shelters. A few lucky cubs even managed to roast marshmallows over the fire before the heavens truly opened and halted play for the evening.

A little mud and rain? Just another adventure in the books! 🪵🔥

🌧️ The scouts kicked off the final term of the year with a trip to the park and true to British form, we were treated to some classic rainy weather 🌦️

After the scorching heat of carnival camp, rounders in the rain felt like quite the contrast… but that didn’t stop the scouts having an absolute blast! 🏏 We also got stuck into some fun with a giant red ball - always a crowd pleaser!

back in time — exploring local history from the 1500s right through to 1870.

The Cubs had a fantastic time discovering what life was like in the past and learning more about the history right on our doorstep.

A massive thank you to Belinda for bringing history to life and making the experience so engaging and memorable for everyone!

A look back at one of our recent Beaver sessions 🔥

The Beavers learnt how to safely start a fire, toasted marshmallows to make delicious s’mores, and finished the session singing songs around the campfire. 🎶🍫🔥

Lots of smiles, sticky fingers, and great memories made!

🏅 DIY Badge nearly COMPLETE! 🏅

This week Apollo tackled the final challenge of their DIY badge ✨

The task? Tiling! 🟦 They learned how to measure and cut tiles, apply adhesive, lay tiles evenly using spacers, and finish off with grouting.

They probably don’t realise it now, but later in life they’ll thank us - these young people are building real life skills that will last a lifetime!

We are so proud of every single one of them for all their focus on the DIY badge. From painting and fixing to tiling like pros — watch out, Bob the Builder! 😄👷

The Cubs had a go at Morris dancing to mark St George’s Day! 🇬🇧

A massive thank you to Cracklewick Morris for sharing this fantastic tradition with the Cubs — a great time was had by all!

This week our Beavers learnt all about owls 🦉

They discovered what they eat, how they hunt, and why they’re such amazing nocturnal birds. The highlight of the session was definitely getting hands-on with owl pellet dissection! The Beavers carefully pulled them apart and had a fantastic time identifying the tiny bones they found from skulls to ribs and more.

It was a brilliant mix of science, discovery, and a little bit of “eww!”, the Beavers loved every minute. Future wildlife experts in the making!

Back to the DIY badge for the scout section this week – focusing on the electrical bits of the badge ⚡️💡

We learned about consumer units, how to safely change a lightbulb, and got hands-on building our own simple circuit boards.

From stripping wires, connecting switches, and wiring a plug, the challenge was to get their lightbulb to turn on – and there were some great success moments! ✨

Plenty of problem-solving, teamwork, and determination on display throughout the evening.

Everything was planned and closely supervised by one of our leaders (a qualified electrician), with all work thoroughly checked before any power was added!

A big thank you to the parent helpers who supported us on the night – it made a real difference 🙌 If anyone else would like to get involved and lend a hand, we’d love to hear from you – just send us a DM (mention Apollo) 😀
