Spotlight on Ned! 🌟

Ned has been waiting patiently for his foster or adoptive home for some time now. At 4 years old, this handsome Collie x Whippet is a wonderful boy, but he’s found the search for a forever family a little tricky.

Ned has those classic, intelligent Collie traits and some significant fears regarding traffic. He’s looking for:
✅ An experienced, active owner.
✅ A quiet location away from busy roads.
✅ A family who understands his Collie brain!

He’s lived with other dogs before, so he’s happy to have a furry sibling or be the center of your world.

Times are tough, and it can be hard to know where to turn. 🤝

If you’re struggling, please know that surrendering your dog isn't your only option. Helping a dog stay in the home they know is the best outcome for everyone, especially as there is no guarantee a dog will find a new home quickly in the current climate.

Before making the difficult decision, consider these paths:

🍎 Food Support: The RSPCA has a pet food bank search to help with supplies: https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/costofliving/foodbank

🩺 Vet Check: If your dog’s behaviour has changed, start with a vet check-up. Dogs are masters at masking pain, and many behavioural issues actually stem from physical discomfort.

🧠 Training & Behaviour: Finding the right support can be life-changing. Did you know some insurance providers cover behaviourist support? Speak to your vet for a professional referral.

🐕 Additional Services: From walkers to secure fields, there is more help available than ever. If using pet services, always be vigilant! Ensure any service provider has appropriate insurance, registration, and first aid training in place.

Getting the right support can turn things around. You don't have to do this alone 💙

We'd love to hear our community's stories! If you’ve overcome hard times or navigated a difficult journey with your dog, please share your experience in the comments. Your story might be exactly what someone else needs to hear today ✨

He's as big as a house!! 🏠

We’ve had some feedback that 11-month-old Hank is "too big" but we prefer the term "statuesque" 💅

After 48 days in the kennel, Hank is still waiting for someone to realise that "Large Breed" is just code for "extra surface area for petting." He’s currently hoping for a home with reinforced furniture and a heart big enough to match his stature.

Despite his 53kg frame, he’s still a baby at heart who just wants to be your (very large) shadow 👣

Head to our website to find out more about Hank and how to apply: https://dogsfriends.me.uk/df-dogs/hank/

Isn’t Winnie just gorgeous?

Winnie's journey hasn't been an easy one so far. She arrived in quite a pickle, and unfortunately, things have been a bit of a rollercoaster since.

While Winnie is waiting for several important tests and scans, they’ve had to take a backseat due to a sudden onset of incontinence that became a top priority. We are so incredibly thankful to her foster family, who continually go above and beyond for this girl. It certainly helps that she’s so cute! 🐾

Want to help? Here’s how you can help dogs like Winnie:

Chow Chow and Poppy are ready to find their forever homes 🏠

Both of these young ladies are looking for a forever home that moves at a slightly slower pace to help them navigate their nervous natures.

🐶 Chow Chow: She joined us from the pound and is dreaming of a quiet life—potentially as an only dog or with very mellow friends who won't crowd her.
Find out more about Chow Chow: https://dogsfriends.me.uk/df-dogs/chow-chow/

🐶 Poppy: Joined us from a breeding facility. She is a sensitive soul in search of an experienced, understanding home. Poppy must go to a home with other dogs for confidence and comfort.
Find out more about Poppy: https://dogsfriends.me.uk/df-dogs/poppy-cockapoo/

Both girls require calm environments. Please read their profiles carefully before enquiring.

Cassie is looking for her active forever home! 🐾

Cassie is a bit of a mystery to us—she arrived from the pound with no history, so we’re not even sure what breed she is! What we do know is that she’s approximately 2 years old, fun-loving, and full of energy.

Cassie is searching for an active home where someone is around most of the time (letting her sleep near you is a non-negotiable for this cheeky girl!). She needs plenty of exercise, mental enrichment, and a family excited to continue her training.

KC is absolutely smashing it! 🌟

KC the Norfolk Terrier joined us just over a month ago in dire need of a lifestyle change. While he was a much-loved pet, his previous owner was unfortunately struggling to keep up with his health needs. Since then, KC has been working incredibly hard to shift the pounds—and he’s already lost 2kg!

He still has a journey ahead of him, but he’s making wonderful progress every day. KC desperately needs a dental procedure, but at his current weight, the anaesthesia is simply too dangerous.

Dogs like KC are a vital reminder of why keeping our pets in shape is so important. Being overweight puts unnecessary pressure on joints and makes even standard medical procedures potentially life-threatening.
