East Wickham Conservation Volunteers

East Wickham Conservation Volunteers The volunteers worked with Bexley Council to maintain and improve the Open Space for the benefit of Members were drawn from all ages and walks of life.

The volunteers were a group of local residents who met regularly to plan and suggest initiatives, which were adopted with the agreement of Bexley Council officers. The work carried out included planting of native wildflowers and trees, hedge maintenance, path and rustic bench construction, litter picking and other more ambitious activity. We all shared an enthusiasm to preserve and protect the wil

dlife, flora and fauna which thrives on the East Wickham Open Space. We were always interested to meet new people who would like to help with the work we do, such as planting new wildflowers and shrubs; surveying the birds, animals and wildflowers; and keeping the open space neat and tidy by clearing up litter. There is also still much more to be done. Everyone was welcome to join the group: it cost you nothing but a few hours a month.
