VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION WEEK

Author Mandy Hale wrote, "There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.”

We were celebrating that beauty today, as we took time off from our normal programmes to have a 'Volunteer Appreciation Day' as part of this year's Volunteer Appreciation Week.

We affirmed one another, heard about the impact volunteers have in terms of service to our community, shared a meal together and celebrated each other's service. It was great to spend this time together and we're grateful to Lou for organising the day. Sorry to those who couldn't make it due to other commitments - we missed you!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who gives up their time in serving others as part of our church worship and mission, including our section and programme leaders. Whether you serve during the week, give up your time doing ministry with our young people on weeknights and on the weekend, keep our buildings maintained and safe, look after the finances, help us with our Christmas Present Appeal or make sure the kettle is on and the biscuits are out when we come to church; thank you!!

Lou will be sharing about new exciting volunteering opportunities when we meet together on Sunday. If you've got time to give and want to help us in our service to our community, listen out on Sunday and chat with Lou soon.

The Salvation Army Welling Community Hub is looking for unwanted LEGO and DUPLO bricks, figures, base plates, and complete or incomplete sets.

We are currently developing future intervention sessions for children, young people, and parents to enjoy together through safe and creative play.

These sessions will focus on:
✨ Building positive connections and relationships
✨ Encouraging communication and emotional expression
✨ Supporting therapy play opportunities
✨ Helping children and parents share thoughts, feelings, opinions, and experiences in a safe environment

The group will also provide support for families with children and young adults who may have learning difficulties or who are neurodiverse.

If you have any unwanted LEGO or DUPLO that could help support this exciting community project, we would be incredibly grateful for your donations.

Please message us directly on [email protected] or drop donations into the Community Hub Tuesdays 10am-12pm & Fridays 10am-1pm.
