She Did It! Great North Swim Completed! 🏊‍♀️🩵

A huge congratulations and heartfelt thank you to our amazing supporter Helen Borthwick, who has successfully completed the Great North Swim in support of Poppy’s Light Foundation.

Taking on the challenge of open-water swimming in Lake Windermere is no small feat, and Helen’s determination, courage, and commitment have been truly inspiring. Every stroke she swam helped raise awareness of inherited cardiac conditions and the importance of early diagnosis, screening, and education.

At Poppy’s Light Foundation, we are incredibly grateful for supporters like Helen who help us continue our mission to shine a light on these often hidden conditions and work towards preventing other families from experiencing the heartbreak of sudden cardiac death.

Thank you, Helen, for making a difference, raising awareness, and carrying Poppy’s light with you every step – and every stroke – of the journey.

Please join us in celebrating Helen’s fantastic achievement and thanking her for her support.

A huge good luck to Helen Borthwick as she takes on her Great Swim challenge today!

Thank you to everyone who has sponsored Helen and supported her mission to raise awareness of young people's cardiac health.

Every week, 12 young lives are lost to undiagnosed inherited cardiac conditions, conditions that are manageable when identified.

Every stroke Helen swims today is for every heart, for Poppy, and for every young person who deserves the chance to fulfil their dreams.

Thank you, Helen, for your dedication and determination, and thank you to everyone who has donated and helped make a difference.

Together, we are raising awareness and saving lives.

Encouraging progress 🩵

We were pleased to receive correspondence from Baroness Merron, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Patient Safety, confirming that a proposal relating to screening for inherited cardiac conditions in first-degree relatives has been considered through the UK National Screening Committee process.

While no decision has yet been announced, it is encouraging to see this important issue being discussed at a national level.

At Poppy's Light Foundation, we will continue raising awareness of inherited cardiac conditions, supporting families, and advocating for earlier identification of those at risk.

Thank you to everyone who supports our mission and helps keep these vital conversations moving forward.

Together, we can help save lives. 🩵

A huge thank you to Helen Borthwick, who will be taking on the Great North Swim at Lake Windermere this Saturday, an amazing challenge made even more inspiring because despite her love of swimming, Helen has a fear of open water swimming.

Facing that fear head-on to support our charity shows incredible courage, determination and generosity and we couldn’t be more grateful for her support.

Every fundraiser, donation and act of support helps us continue raising awareness of inherited heart conditions and Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome, while supporting families affected by these life-changing conditions.

People like Helen play such an important role in helping us continue our mission to protect young hearts, educate communities, and ensure families never feel alone.

Good luck for Saturday, we’ll all be cheering you on! 🙌

🩵 This week, we’re shining a light on British Heart Week, a powerful reminder of just how important heart health awareness really is.

Inherited cardiac conditions (ICCs) often go unseen until it’s too late and can have a devastating impact on families.

Too many young lives are lost because the warning signs are missed or misunderstood, that’s why awareness matters. By understanding the risks, recognising symptoms and encouraging screening where appropriate, we can help give families the knowledge that could save a life.

If you can, take a moment this week to learn more, start a conversation, or share our message, it could make all the difference. 💙

🏊‍♀️ One week to go.

Next weekend, our incredible supporter Helen Borthwick will take on the Great North Swim in support of Poppy’s Light Foundation.

She's not just swimming miles in open water.
She's helping us shine a light on a hidden health challenge affecting thousands of families across the UK.

Every week, 12 young lives are lost to sudden cardiac death.

It is estimated that more than 65,000 people are living with an undiagnosed inherited cardiac condition (ICC).

Many of these conditions are treatable and manageable when identified early.

That's why awareness matters.
That's why early detection matters.
And that's why community matters.

At Poppy's Light Foundation, we're working towards a future where no family loses a loved one because an inherited cardiac condition wasn't recognised in time. In the coming weeks, we'll take the first steps towards the soft launch of the first dedicated inherited cardiac conditions clinical hub, bringing together healthcare, education, families and communities around a shared mission of prevention, earlier diagnosis and better outcomes.

Helen's challenge is a reminder that change doesn't happen through organisations alone.
It happens because people step forward.
Thank you, Helen, for helping us raise awareness, support families and advocate for a future where detection truly is survival. 💙

Please join us in wishing her the very best of luck for the Great North Swim.

💙 Yesterday was about cake, community and conversation. But the reason we came together is far more important.

Every week in the UK, 12 young lives are lost to sudden cardiac death.

It is estimated that more than 65,000 people are living with an undiagnosed inherited cardiac condition (ICC).

Awareness saves lives.

That's why we're so excited to share that, in the coming weeks, Poppy's Light Foundation will take an important step forward with the soft launch of the first dedicated inherited cardiac conditions clinical hub, right here in our region.

Yesterday's Cake & Craft Fayre showed the power of community to drive change.

From dragonfly crafts inspired by Poppy's legacy, to beautiful piano music, homemade cakes, children's activities and meaningful conversations, people came together to support families affected by inherited cardiac conditions and help build a future where earlier detection becomes the norm, not the exception.

To everyone who baked, donated, volunteered, attended and supported, thank you.

Together we are raising awareness, supporting families and helping to save lives.

Detection is survival. 💙
