It’s a pastime that has been loved by people of all ages for decades – but it’s also an activity that is regularly misunderstood.

Left behind by the axe fly campers.

Not a great picture but at least three tents by the lake.

🔔🔔DON’T FORGET TOMORROW!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! 🔔🔔

10am by the Theatre by the Lake, Keswick! 👍 No matter how large or small a crowd it’s ESSENTIAL folk be it local or visitors make their voices heard to local authorities about the awful “fly camping” issues and litter about our beautiful Lakeland! 👍👍

The BBC rang me this morning to discuss their filming plans and make sure that we both don’t interfere with each other as I’m filming for my YouTube channel 😂😂🎥

Personally, I’d like to film lots of voices expressing their thoughts.

I’ve received no end of messages and emails today whilst working at the Blencathra Centre about my post last evening 🤯👇

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1609119790431127&id=100039993643932

I’ve even received messages from celebs!! 😳😳🤯

On top of that, I’ve received comms from insider sources too.

As my post yesterday implied, Cumbria Tourism’s figures about visitor numbers being down doesn’t add up. Even the Lake District National Park Authority are aware to a degree 🙄🤔

It’s why I suggested yesterday there’s a bit of shenanigans going on! 🤔🤔

Atop of that, I was reminded today as I mentioned yesterday that the recent public declarations by local authorities means bu**er all!! 😢😢😢

Token gestures. That’s my language. But it’s also true.

❌ They’ve no resources, no powers and at times unwilling to address issues to protect and conserve the most popular national park in the UK.

✅ Lakeland is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

😢 Communities are struggling with all sorts let alone the “fly camping” and litter.

🤔 Despite what local authorities say, I was reminded today of the ‘Sandford Principle’…the issues Lakeland is facing shows and proves there’s a conflict between conservation and public enjoyment of the area.

🤔 How our local authorities including the LDNPA manage this legally is questionable to say the least! And I include Cumbria Tourism in that too given their agenda (made up of partners and businesses)!

I hope to meet some of you tomorrow and catch up with others no matter how large or small the turnout.

Voices matter folks! 👍

It’s about time in my view locals and folk who visit and love Lakeland from afar make their feelings known and put pressure on those in power to give their heads a wobble and listen!!

It’s time for change.

It’s time to evolve and adapt.

It’s time to care and protect our special places adored by millions here and abroad.

It’s time those in power get off their bottoms and enable change for a greater good for our national parks and nature 👍👍
