Barford Post Office

Your Post Office needs you!

You may know that Barford Village Shop recently became Sub-postmaster for Barford Post Office. Following retirements, we are urgently looking for friendly volunteers to provide counter services, working alongside Julie Chavasse, our Post Office manager. Full training is provided, and Julie will give support whenever it is needed.

Please come into the shop and have a chat about volunteering or email us at [email protected] Just one afternoon a week would be a huge help. It is a great way to meet people and be part of this essential service to the village.
Without more volunteers, we may have to close on some afternoons especially when Julie is on leave.

Horizon
Some of you may have concerns following the Horizon scandal. Fortunately, this did not affect Barford. However, rest assured that any financial responsibility rests with the Sub-postmaster, and not with volunteers.

The shop has now been open since November 2008. We owe a big thank you to all the volunteers past and present for keeping it open every day (only closed on Christmas Day.)

Barford Post Office – New Services

We are delighted to tell you about two new services we are offering to customers.

Gift Cards
These are available in amounts from £15 to £120 and can be redeemed at a huge range of high street and online shops and restaurants.
You can see them on display at the counter – easy to post and they make a great last-minute gift.

Currency Cards
These can be pre-loaded in any of 22 currencies and then used as a payment card when abroad or for cash withdrawals without fees. They can also be topped up remotely. Great for parents to purchase for children going abroad on a school trip. Identification is needed to purchase these cards, and you must be over 18 to purchase them.

Valid for 5 years and it is possible to swap between currencies on the card.
