🐴💩 POO PICK CHALLENGE COMPLETE! 💩🐴

After 8 hours in the field, countless steps, plenty of sunshine and more horse poo than I ever thought possible…

The final total was:

🛞 17 FULL WHEELBARROWS OF POO! 🛞

We also pulled a huge amount of docks and weeds while we were there, helping improve the grazing and making the field a much nicer place for the horses.

💚 A massive thank you to fellow volunteer Darren, who stuck with me all day and absolutely smashed it. Whilst I was busy filling wheelbarrows, Darren seemed to declare war on every dock plant in the field and pulled what felt like thousands of them! The difference he made was incredible and the field already looks so much tidier because of his hard work.

Another massive thank you to a friend and follower of the page Becky Phillips and daughter Phoebe for coming to help with the poo picking!

Now, if anyone needs me, I’ll be having a very long shower and trying not to smell phantom horse poo for the next week… 🤣🐴💩

🚨 POO PICK DAY IS OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY 🚨

Slightly later start than planned thanks to having three children who apparently require feeding, dressing and general supervision before I can go and shovel horse poo 🤣

Looking at the field, I may have underestimated what I’ve signed myself up for…

🐴 How many wheelbarrows do you think I’ll fill?

🛞 My guess is somewhere between “a lot” and “send help.”

There’s still time to sponsor a wheelbarrow for £5 or enter the Poo Prophet competition for £2 and guess the final total!

A HUGE thank you to the absolutely incredible Rich for coming out this morning and harrowing the PHAASE field for us 💚🐴

Not only does this help improve the grazing and field condition for our horses, but it also makes such a massive difference to the day-to-day upkeep of the sanctuary.

As a volunteer-run sanctuary, acts of kindness and support like this genuinely mean the world to us. Every hour of help, every skill shared and every act of generosity helps us continue providing a safe haven for abandoned, aged and sick equines 🐎✨
