Ellie and myself continued their badge “Communication” discussing Real and AI Technology,

Matthew 5 : 14-16 “You are the light of the world”

Our words and actions even the ones we post online should always be kind honest and caring.

I showed the children some You Tube quizzes where we all had to decide which pictures were Real and which ones were AI - some of these were quite hard to tell.

Ellie then showed the children how to alter pictures on their phones and our Chrome book and they chatted about ChatGPT - see pictures attached which are very funny and clever.

They all really enjoyed tonight’s session and asked lots of questions.

Many thanks to Megan and Chloe too for their help and input.

We finished with a few games and prayers and then the leaders presented me with my 40 years certificate and badge for my service as a leader in Girls’ Brigade - a lovely surprise.

Claire continued their badge : “Seasons - Autumn”

Joshua 1:9 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged for the Lord your God be with you wherever you go”

Trees stay strong even though they lose a lot of leaves …..

When have you had to be strong?

Who helps you feel strong and supported?

As a craft Claire got the children to make medals of bravery.

Games and Prayers followed.

Thanks go to Megan, Liz, Valli, Ellie, Paige, Scarlett and Jamie for their help.

We welcomed another new girl tonight Jasmine who is a good friend of Eva, Lyla and Arabella.

Tonight Liz continued with the girls “Communication” badge……

Listening with ears and hearing what matters

1. When have you really felt listened to

2. What helps you listen deeply

The girls had to sit back to back and give drawing instructions to their partner - they also had to listen to various noises.

They also gave instructions to each other to move down the hall blind folded and avoiding large sink holes.

Helping Liz was Megan and Milly

Tonight Milly continued talking to the children about their badge “Seasons - Autumn” and asked them the following questions :

1. When have you had to be brave

2. Who helps you feel strong and supported

3. What do you think courage looks like

Joshua 1 :9 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will always be with you wherever you go”

As a craft the children had to design their own home with their families inside and trees with autumn leaves outside.

Milly then got the children to play some games before saying their Thank You God prayers.

Helping Milly tonight was Megan. Claire, Liz, Paige and Scarlett - thank you

Sunday, 20th September, 2026

Today was our annual Harvest and Girls Brigade and Boys Brigade Enrolment Service.

Scarlett Dye, Ruby Dye and Paige Bedser were our Colour Party - they did a great job and looked very smart.

Iva Encheva read a Thanksgiving prayer and Paige Bedser read out the Girls Brigade Aim and Principles.

I was finally after 4 years of training able to present Katrina Athawes with her Leaders Badge and Certificate - Welcome Katrina your hard work and commitment finally paid off.

It was lovely to see the stage area full of food and toiletries - these will be going to the Merton Food Bank.

Many thanks to the girls that turned up today - extra points for their squads and a bar of chocolate next Friday.

Thank you also to the Leaders and Helpers that turned up too.

After the service some of us stayed for a jacket potato lunch together which was a nice finish to the morning.

Thank you to my husband John for taking all the photos for us so we can keep these memories.

We also started the night by practicing our drill and dismiss procedure ready for Sundays Harvest and Enrolment service.

Milly continued with week 2 of the girls “Communication” badge.

After a long chat they made glove puppets out of socks and then had to produce a drama to show the leaders using communicating skills.

We finished with Thank You God prayers.

Thanks to Milly, Megan, Chloe and Katrina for their help tonight.

Again a good evening.

We started the night by practising our lining up and dismissal for drill - the children did really well.

I took the children for the second stage of their “Seasons Autumn” badge.

In my talk I told them all about what Harvest means and how due to the drought the farmers have struggled with crops. I also chatted to them about Food Banks and why we have them.

As a craft we made Autumn Leaf 🍁 Wreaths - they were difficult to stick on to the wooden rings but looked really colourful when completed.

For games Katrina and Scarlett got the children to play Ladders which they love.

We finished the evening by Thanking God for Harvest.

Thanks to Megan, Milly, Katrina, Valli, Scarlett and Paige for their much needed help.

A good night.

Chloe took the children for the first part of their new badge about “Communication”

She chatted to them first about different ways of communicating then asked all of them to form a line in alphabetical order of their Christian names, then in order of their birth month and then by age - without speaking a word.

It was very entertaining, interesting and quite difficult.

The children then played some games and finished in prayer.

Thanks to Chloe, Milly, Megan and Ellie for all their help tonight.
