🌞 KEEPING THE KIDS BUSY THIS SUMMER — WARE'S HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES GUIDE
The school holidays are here — which for a lot of us means six weeks of "I'm bored" from a very creative smaller person, alongside trying to actually get some work done (or, let's be honest, just finally getting round to the ironing). Good news: Ware has a genuinely great spread of activities this summer, from free drop-in sessions to paid creative workshops, so there's something to fill the gaps whatever your week looks like.

🎬 THE PEOPLE'S EMERGENCY BRIEFING — screening + discussion in Ware
What happens when ordinary people are given the facts about climate change, nature loss, rising food prices, extreme weather and flooding — and the chance to talk about what it all means?
Ware sits right on the River Lea, with The King's Mead and Rye Meads on our doorstep, and the town's existence and history are tied to them. So it's a good place to ask that question — and to talk about what a changing climate could mean for a town so closely tied to its river and its meads.
That's exactly what this event sets out to do.
📺 The film
Following the format of Gogglebox, this thought-provoking 50-minute film invites audiences to watch alongside a diverse range of people from across the UK as they react to excerpts from expert briefings originally presented to MPs and decision-makers. Hosted by naturalist and broadcaster Chris Packham, it captures honest reactions, questions and conversations about some of the most pressing challenges facing society today.
🌍 Connecting the dots
The film links climate change and nature loss to everyday life, while highlighting practical solutions and positive actions. Rather than leaving audiences feeling overwhelmed, it aims to offer hope, inspiration and a sense of collective responsibility.
💬 After the film
Audiences are invited to take part in a facilitated discussion — a chance to share reactions, exchange ideas and explore what individuals and communities can do next. Whether you're already deeply engaged with environmental issues or just curious to learn more, this is a welcoming space for conversation, reflection and action.
⚠️ Please note: Spaces are limited, and the event is recommended for ages 16+.
📍 Saturday 18th July, 3pm–5.15pm at the Southern Maltings
This event is in the Main Studio, accessed from the café entrance. It's on the first floor, but a lift is available and provides step-free access.
Tickets are free but spaces are limited — booking link in the comments below 👇
