Today was our Volunteer led arts and crafts project, led by one of ECL’s longest standing volunteers, Rosemary,

Our members made their colourful trees using paper cut outs and glue, a lovely reminder of their weekly walks in the local woodland.

It was a lovely reminder during Volunteers’ Week of what a fantastic job our volunteers do in bringing enjoyment to our members, and doing their bit to enhance their lives.

🫶Today marks the start of Volunteers' Week - a moment where we pause and reflect on the incredible work that volunteers do in support of the thousands of charities and their beneficiaries across the UK.

🥳To celebrate our fantastic volunteers at ECL, without whom we simply wouldn't exist, we would like to start the week with a blog from one our newest volunteers, Rachel.

We hope you enjoy reading Rachel's reflections on joining the ECL family!

❓Do you have just 60 seconds to help us raise vital funds?

🔢Every single penny counts at ECL, and £5,000 would be the difference between us being able to run a year's worth of activity sessions.

Taking inspiration from the local riverside in Walton on Thames, our members let their creative juices flow in this week's arts project.

Hoping to be chosen for an upcoming exhibit Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre, our ECL artists spent time thinking about what the riverside means to them, and expressed it through watercolour on canvas.

We think the end results are truly fantastic. What do you think?

🎉🎉🎉We would like to say a massive congratulations to our fantastic trustee, Lisa for her marathon swimming efforts over March and April, raising an incredible £1.8K for ECL.

🏊🏅Battling some signficant physical hurdles, Lisa dug deep into her 'I Can' moment, and completed 26 miles of swimming over 8 weeks. We are in awe of her determination!

🥰£1800 will make a huge difference to what we can acheive here at ECL, including the smooth running of our weekly activity sessions, supporing people aged 18 to 80 with learning disabilities and/or autism. We simply wouldn't exist without the passion and commitment of people like Lisa.

And it's not too late to donate - just click here for Lisa's Local Giving page https://localgiving.org/fundraising/Lisas-Aqua-Marathon

Our members took on a pirate like project this week at Multi Activities Day. 🏴‍☠️⚓️.

Decorating their own treasure chests, there was plenty of creativity and artistic flair in this arts and crafts session!

🐣Thanks to our friends and funders at Walsingham Care, we were able to host a wonderful Easter Party for our members, complete with a cream tea, fresh fruit and lots of other treats.

😍It's because of funders such as Walsingham Care that we are able to continue our work, supporting older adults with learning disabilities, and providing life enhancing experiences and opportunities. We are so very grateful for their generous donation to ECL. 🙏

Last night it was AllSports - back in action after the Easter break. And what a brilliant session it was!

Members played football, indoor tennis, basketball, skittles, curling and finished off with a relaxing stretch session - with smiles all round and lots of cheering along the way.
