Many of you will know that we at Speak Their Name have begun an ongoing campaign to the Coroner's office to improve the inquest ordeal for people bereaved by su***de.

We are putting together a training session to be offered to coroners and their staff which we are hoping will make a positive impact on the process. The content is supported by our recent questionnaire that was circulated before Christmas.

As part of the training we are including short videos of peoples experiences of the coronial process. We have had engagement from women but to balance things we would also like contributions from men who have experienced this.

We understand that talking about our experiences is very difficult but we would really appreciate your help in making a difference.
Anyone who would be interested in taking part (being in a short video clip for the training) please contact me at [email protected] and we can have an initial chat about it. ~ Anna

'I just want to make a positive impact on the world.
I want to inspire at least one person to believe in their purpose or inspire them to come close to peace within themselves.
I just want to leave a ripple effect of positive waves.
Don't you?'

These were the words of talented sportsman, fashion designer, artist and poet Joshua Van Leader, who tragically died by su***de in November 2022 at the age of just 31.

During the past several months, The Jordan Legacy has been collaborating with Joshua's parents - Mark and Mary Leader - and Magpie (Creative Behaviour Change Agency) in
preparation for an amazing exhibition of Joshua's work, which will take the form of a free community art exhibition and programme of events relating to mental health, su***de prevention and wellbeing.

💫 'Inspire to Inspire' will be open to the public between July 8th and September 30th, 12pm - 8pm (Tuesday to Saturday) at New York Square (NYSQ), Leeds.

Among the many plans for the event will be a baton bearer handover as part of this year's Baton Of Hope UK tour, which will take place at the exhibition on World Su***de Prevention Day (September 10th) in front of the Yorkshire Speak Their Name quilt 💙

✨ If you would like to attend a special launch event for Inspire to Inspire on Wednesday 2nd July (time TBC) at New York Square, Leeds, please email Michelle Budd - [email protected] - no later than Friday 20th June.
