The Greens have put a spanner in the works if they wish to have a closer working relationship with the trade Union movement. Hillingdon TUC supports the full nationalisation on a not for profit basis of our public utilities, in line with our affiliate Unions.

🗳️ Andrea Egan has been elected as the next general secretary of UNISON, the UK’s largest union.

She replaces Christina McAnea who has served as general secretary since 2021.

Andrea will begin her five-year term on 22 January 2026.

UNISON general secretary elect Andrea Egan said: “I’m honoured to take up the post of general secretary at UNISON, and I’m grateful for the trust placed in me."

"Barclays chief executive has told the UK government to limit pay rises for public sector workers and refrain from hitting banks with tax increases". (FT today)
Coincidentally, for the 2024 financial year, Barclays' CEO was paid £10.5m. This figure doubled from his £4.6m pay in 2023. A new pay scheme could give him £14.3m next year.....all most public sector workers are doing is trying to keep up with inflation!
