🐣 Oh, Easter Tree!

Easter trees made from branches hung with decorative eggs have long been a cherished tradition in Northern and Eastern European countries. Inspired by this custom, Jane Thatcher created her own Hampshire version with a creative twist.

When her twisted Laurus nobilis (bay) tree sadly died, Jane turned it into a positive by painting the trunk green. Secured in a gravel-filled container and topped with moss on a rustic twig ring, the branches held painted eggshells and decorative eggs on delicate ribbons.

The eggshells were filled with water and tiny Narcissus blooms in a mix of colours. The twig ring was decorated with Nandina domestica 'Fire Power' foliage, decorative eggs, small succulents, feathers, and more daffodils nestled in the moss.

A beautiful way to give new life to an old tree while celebrating the spirit of spring and Easter.

Ickenham Festival 2026 runs from Saturday 6th to Sunday 14th June.
Leading up to this, a programme listing the events will be delivered to every house in Ickenham. Copies will also be available to buy from some Ickenham shops etc.
On Saturday 13th June, at 12-30, Ickenham comes temporarily to a standstill as the parade travels from Swakeleys Park to Milton Court.
At Milton Court, there will be fun fare rides, music, dancing, food and lots of charity stalls.
We are still taking bookings from charitable groups and organizations wishing to book a pitch on Milton Court.
Booking forms are available online at Ickenhamfestival.org.uk where suitable charitable groups will be asked to pay a £15 deposit, upon booking and this will be returning on the day once you've set up your stall.
This is an opportunity to have a great day, raising money for your good causes and raising awareness of your groups and charities.
