🎉 Gloucestershire cancer centre one step closer as plans approved! 🎉

Today Cheltenham Borough Council gave the green light for a new state-of-the-art facility at Cheltenham General Hospital. The new cancer centre will offer patients modern clinical and treatment spaces, access to digital consultations, a dedicated support centre for patients and loved ones, as well as peaceful therapeutic gardens.

This significant milestone is thanks to you - our amazing community - who have supported The Big Space Cancer Appeal to help make this new centre a reality. Planning approval a huge step forward in transforming cancer care for patients and families throughout Gloucestershire and beyond. THANK YOU! 💙

🚴☀️ What a way to celebrate your birthday! ☀️🚴

A huge thank you to Rachel, who celebrated her 60th by taking on the incredible Chase the Sun challenge; cycling 322km across the country in a single day - setting off at dawn and reaching the opposite coast before sunset.

Not only did Rachel complete this amazing experience, but she also raised an unbelievable £5,050 for our Neonatal Fund! 💙

🎧 Thanks to your support, our Orthopaedics Team now has new noise-cancelling headphones, tablets and accessories to enhance patients' experience during surgery 🎧

This equipment allows patients undergoing surgery to listen to music throughout their procedure, helping them feel more comfortable and relaxed.

By supporting patients where appropriate to have their surgery under anaesthesia without sedation - this equipment can help people recover more quickly, reduce post-operative sickness and get back home sooner! 💙

🌄 Summit Success! 🌄 A huge congratulations to the 27 amazing fundraisers who took on the Snowdon Sunrise Challenge!

Teams of friends, families and colleagues laced up their walking boots and set off under the cover of darkness, trekking through the night to conquer Snowdon at sunrise.

Together, they raised an unbelievable £13,804 for The Big Space Cancer Appeal - helping to transform cancer care for patients and their families across Gloucestershire.

Thank you to every single person who took part, donated and supported this fantastic event💙

🤝 Thanks to you, our Manual Handling Team now have two specialist patient handling manikins to enhance staff training 🤝

These realistic training manikins allow staff to practice safe moving and handling techniques using equipment such as hoists, wheelchairs, hoverjacks and hospital beds - helping them build confidence in a safe learning environment 💙

🎉 The incredible Betty Bromage! 🎉 at 97 years old, Betty has beaten her own world record and become the oldest female wing walker, whilst raising funds for the Stroke Unit! We are so grateful for Betty’s incredible fundraising which will make a difference to patients for years to come! Betty, you are truly an inspiration! 💙

🔬 A huge thank you to Gloucestershire Eye Therapy Trust for their continued support of surgical training at our hospitals! 🔬

Having previously funded our state-of-the-art Deep Reality Viewer (DRV) system, they have now generously funded additional training attachments, allowing surgeons to supervise trainees in real time.

This enhanced equipment enables staff to practise and build their confidence in a realistic training environment, helping them develop the skills they need for the future.
