Helen recently took part in the Peer2Peer course here at The Hub - we asked her for her thoughts and what she took from it!

"I got a lot of good knowledge about mental health by joining the peer to peer group. They talked about how to cope with mental health and I cope pretty well with my own. They took on board my issues with asthma and my mental health and someone shared a story with the group that I found to be upsetting but it was good to listen to him and convey my emotions.

Ash and Pam took the course and I found it to be very worth-while and understood that everyone was in a similar situation. They taught how to be a peer to peer worker and support those who need us at their darkest times.

In conclusion I feel that given time I would like to offer my services as a peer to peer support worker and then possibly help to deliver the course."

Thanks Helen!

We've had a lovely morning hosting our Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning! The catering crew put on a lovely spread - sandwiches and homemade soup, fresh baked apple cake, scones with cream and jam - and we raised £230! Thanks to everyone who contributed and to Macmillan for the amazing work they do supporting folks living with cancer and their loved ones 💚

We had a wonderful garden party last week to celebrate the installation of a new rose arch! 🌹 Member Zoe built it in the Common Wheel bike workshop (see the behind the scenes pictures) - she learnt to weld and made it out of old bike parts! Amazing! We had a delicious lunch made by members and staff working together, and Anne Marie read out 'A Red, Red Rose' before we cut the ribbon. Check out Common Wheel to learn more about the many fantastic mental health and wellbeing projects they run - climbing, bikes, music, and more! Here's hoping for a few more weeks of sunny weather so we can enjoy our lovely garden 🌞

We are looking for a creative, engaging, empathetic and encouraging individual who can help to support our wonderful members who lead up the podcast.

What we’re looking for - group facilitation skills, flexibility of approach, communication skills, some audio recording experience (doesn’t have to be extensive), and a sense of humour!

If you think you’d be a good fit email Eleanor at e.paul@gamh for a full role description and any questions (please don’t dm!)

No experience of working within mental health is necessary, all we are looking for is someone with a positive energy who can get on well with the group.

Application will be a short paragraph about your interest in the role and any relevant experience. Shortlisted folk will be invited to an informal chat to discuss the project. We’d like to speak to people week beginning 27th of July.
