On our travels: for rescue work & fundraising we always look out for our pigeon friends 💖

Thank you fundraiser Friday 👋👋👋

It's Friday - time for us to share our fundraiser and how you can help us 💖😍😊

It's simple: just like our post, share or donate some pennies only if you can.

Some Fridays we share our fundraiser where every little helps 😀

Russell's Rescue is a small local rescue that relies heavily on our wages to continue to run and kind donations. Between £300 to £1000 a month which can go over when vets bills.

The birdambulance 🚑

At present we are saving hard for a 'birdambulance' which will be fully kitted out and enable us to do more outreach and rescue work.

Saved so far £500 target £5000.

Tristan passed his theory test 🥳

Tristan has his theory soon so he can then drive the larger vehicle. It's not a cheap test but his mum kindly treated him.

Maintenance 😪

The wet weather and outbreak of pox has meant more cleaning and some extra repairs.

Some may say vermin, some say pests 💔

But we say pigeons are beautiful and intelligent.

So much ignorance and hatred for our pigeon friends. It breaks our hearts.

When we visited Poland we helped the local flock, this packet of seed meant the world to them.

It's hard to see people walk by the unsung heroes, the unloved.

We always stop for our pigeon friends 💖

There's so much ignorance, hatred and anger for pigeons 💔

A bird trying to co-exist peacefully in a world with us. They deserve better.

Here at Russell's Rescue we are a rescue and sanctuary. We are also huge Advocates for the underdogs.

The birds who often get persecuted, for the way they look, because of the media and TV and simply just because of the years of misunderstanding.

We invited them in, then abandoned them on the streets. A most challenging life, in some of the most dirty conditions.

Let's change the misconceptions of these beautiful birds.

Smiles on sunday 👋 what's been happening?

The beautiful Odin is enjoying the cooler breeze and Mac loving a splish splash.

We've also had the honour to attend the International Pigeon Advocacy Conference. The speakers were incredible and we saw so many familiar faces.

💖

Donations

Donation wise, you've been incredible. Reduced working hours and no car has left Helen on a real tight budget. Prioritising birds over her own needs.

We've stocked up on food for corvids (3 week supply) and pigeons (2 week).

Birdambulance

Soon we will be without transport totally.
However we hope to start saving for a 'birdambulance' Tristan has used his own funds for the specific licence for a larger vehicle. We may put up a fundraiser later in year: as we'll need to kit this out 🙏 and we will be without rescue transport very soon 💔

The insurance company are still dragging their heals regarding Helen's crash: she has no vehicle to pick up birds.

We find that donations are hard for vital things like aviaries and transport: but without these our mission is cut short. We need to look at the bigger picture, expanding our reach across the UK.

Helen's health

As you know Helen hasn't been in a good place, she found some energy to attend the conference but last week was just awful. We all hope she'll be on the mend soon.

DAVE! is a disabled woodpigeon who has one working eye. He WOOS the world with his little dance.

Since having a girlfriend, DAVE! does less WOOS. Which is actually better as he can WOO to his own kind 💖

Odin is being really helpful at site 2 😂 such a cheeky crow!

Importance maintenance on our main aviary. Also measuring out for our new aviary for Odin to try and help him become more wild and have extra space.
