🎨✨ Creativity, friendship and a warm welcome await at our Stroud Art Group!

This week, members explored the shadowing technique and created some wonderful artwork. After stroke, art can help you build confidence, express yourself, learn new skills, and connect with others in a relaxed, supportive setting.

We meet every Wednesday afternoon at Stroud Brewery & Taproom and welcome stroke survivors, people with aphasia, and their families and carers.

💚 A great day at Barnwood Trust's Investing in Change event! 💚

On Tuesday, ReConnect Gloucestershire was delighted to attend Barnwood Trust's Investing in Change event, bringing together funded partners from across Gloucestershire to celebrate the positive impact being made in our communities.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with other organisations, share experiences, learn from one another, and explore new ways of working together.

We're incredibly grateful to Barnwood Trust for their continued support. Their funding helps us bring people together, reduce isolation, and support stroke survivors, people with aphasia, and their families across Gloucestershire.

💛 Happy Memories at Cheltenham Support Group 💛

At our recent Cheltenham Support Group at The Reddings Community Centre, we explored the theme of happy memories. Members shared stories about special people, favourite places, treasured keepsakes, and memorable moments that have brought them joy over the years.

The session was filled with warmth and meaningful conversations, helping everyone get to know each other a little better while reflecting on the experiences that have shaped their lives.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the session so enjoyable. 💚

Last month, through 31 group sessions, 132 participants found connection, peer support, and a welcoming community. 🤝💬🌱

With the support of our amazing volunteers, stroke survivors also benefited from 74 befriending sessions, helping to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing. 💚

As today marks the start of National Inclusion Week 2026, we're proud to support the Inclusive Gloucestershire Pledge.

🌿 A Fond Farewell and New Beginnings 🌿

On 20th August, we held our final Dundry Support Group session at Dundry Nurseries Cheltenham Glos, and what a special day it was.

The group has been meeting at this wonderful venue since 2014, thanks to the dedication of the amazing Nick, Bob, and Martin, who established and helped organise the group over the years. The group has become a place of friendship, support, laughter, and connection for so many people.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity of Chris Evans and Dundry Nurseries, who welcomed us into their beautiful The Butterfly Garden, Cheltenham and supported ReConnect Gloucestershire throughout the years. As a small token of our appreciation, we presented Chris with a thank you gift to recognise everything he has done for the group and for ReConnect.

The day was made even more special as we also celebrated Nick's birthday, giving us another reason to come together and reflect on the many happy memories we've shared at Dundry.

While it's the end of an era, it's also the start of an exciting new chapter. We're looking forward to continuing the Support Group at its new home, The Reddings Community Centre, and creating many more memories together.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey so far, and to all those who have helped make the group such a success over the years. Here's to new beginnings! 💚
