𝙒𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙠 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩.

It's with real disappointment that we're sharing this.

Our clothing recycling point has been persistently misused - people dumping household junk, rubbish, and items that have nothing to do with clothing recycling. These pictures were taken Monday and this morning 😡

Not only does this go against the whole point of the scheme, it's actually costing the charity money to clear.

Because of this, we've had no choice but to move the recycling point to a new location.

This matters to us because every penny wasted on clearing dumped junk is a penny not going towards our work supporting local people living with cancer get to vital appointments.
𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽.

If you're local to Bonnybridge, Denny or Banknock and know of a suitable spot for a new clothing recycling point - somewhere safe, accessible, and hopefully less likely to attract fly-tipping - please let us know in the comments or message us directly.

We shouldn't have to police a recycling bin. But if that's what it takes to keep it running for the people who use it properly, we will.

Thank you to everyone who's used the point correctly over the years — this isn't aimed at you. It's aimed at the minority making it unworkable for everyone else.

💡 DO YOU KNOW? How our clothing bin actually works 💡

You might think: "It's a charity bin – they'll take anything!"

The reality: Our Rag Bag bin is a carefully managed fundraising system.

Here's how it works:
1️⃣ You donate acceptable items to our bin
2️⃣ Nathan Waste Savers collects and weighs the contents
3️⃣ We receive payment based on the WEIGHT of acceptable items
4️⃣ That money helps provide FREE transport to cancer patients

But here's the catch:
We can ONLY be paid for:
✅ Wearable clothing
✅ Paired shoes
✅ Handbags
✅ Belts

Everything else?
❌ Costs us money to remove and dispose of
❌ Reduces our fundraising income
❌ Takes funds away from cancer patients

Items we CANNOT accept:
🚫 Any workwear or uniforms (including school uniforms)
🚫 Wet or soiled clothes
🚫 Soft furnishings (curtains, towels, bedding, cushions, blankets)
🚫 Household items (carpets, suitcases, books, bric-a-brac)
🚫 Clothes hangers
🚫 Electricals

Bottom line:
Wrong donations = Less money for cancer patients
Right donations = More journeys to life-saving treatment

We're recruiting new trustees to join our board and help govern this vital community charity.

What's involved?
📋 5-6 board meetings per year (1.5 hours each)
📋 Strategic decision-making that saves lives
📋 15-20 hours total commitment annually

We are still overwhelmed from last Saturday’s Burns Supper celebrating The Driving Force's 20th anniversary at Bonnybridge Golf Club.

Falkirk Herald captured the magic, and we want to say the biggest THANK YOU to everyone who made it so special.

The idea for the service came from Bonnybridge GP, Dr Bridget McCalister, who is still involved with the charity 20 years after it was first launched.
Her efforts saw her awarded an MBE by the late Queen in 2018 and, despite being retired, Bridget is still fully committed to The Driving Force and is the current secretary.
Your vision 20 years ago has changed thousands of lives. Thank you for never giving up on this community.

And we've inspired others! Not only does it provide this vital support for its own community, but it has also been the catalyst and inspiration for similar groups to be set up across the district, including in Bo'ness, Polmont, Larbert and Stenhousemuir.

This week you've seen the numbers:

🤝 15,749 journeys completed
💙 1,771 people helped
💆 1,397 therapy sessions provided

But numbers can't capture the whole story.

💙 The REAL impact:
