For 20 years, The Driving Force has provided FREE transport to cancer patients in Denny, Bonnybridge, and Banknock.

Thousands of journeys. Hundreds of lives touched. 100% volunteer-driven.

Now we need strategic leaders to help shape our next chapter.
We're recruiting new trustees to join our board and help govern this vital community charity.

What's involved?
📋 5-6 board meetings per year (1.5 hours each)
📋 Strategic decision-making that saves lives
📋 15-20 hours total commitment annually
📋 Meetings in Denny/Bonnybridge area

What you'll gain:

💙 WHAT A NIGHT. WHAT A 20 YEARS. 💙
We are still overwhelmed from last Saturday’s Burns Supper celebrating The Driving Force's 20th anniversary at Bonnybridge Golf Club.

Falkirk Herald captured the magic, and we want to say the biggest THANK YOU to everyone who made it so special.

🎓 Pupils from Denny and St Modan's High Schools - you were absolutely brilliant!

You brought Burns to life and made our celebration unforgettable.

Currently 50 dedicated people serve as drivers, coordinators, fundraisers and committee members who all have one aim: to make each patient's journey as comfortable as possible.

✨ TO DR BRIDGET McCALISTER MBE:
The idea for the service came from Bonnybridge GP, Dr Bridget McCalister, who is still involved with the charity 20 years after it was first launched.
Her efforts saw her awarded an MBE by the late Queen in 2018 and, despite being retired, Bridget is still fully committed to The Driving Force and is the current secretary.
Your vision 20 years ago has changed thousands of lives. Thank you for never giving up on this community.

The Driving Force has been a lifeline for cancer patients living in Bonnybridge, Banknock and Denny by providing them with a free transport service to take them to hospital appointments and treatment sessions without the worry of driving or having to find a parking space.
And we've inspired others! Not only does it provide this vital support for its own community, but it has also been the catalyst and inspiration for similar groups to be set up across the district, including in Bo'ness, Polmont, Larbert and Stenhousemuir.

🎉 20 𝙔𝙀𝘼𝙍𝙎. 𝙊𝙉𝙀 𝙄𝙉𝘾𝙍𝙀𝘿𝙄𝘽𝙇𝙀 𝘾𝙊𝙈𝙈𝙐𝙉𝙄𝙏𝙔. 🎉

This week you've seen the numbers:

🚗 731,159 miles driven
🤝 15,749 journeys completed
💙 1,771 people helped
💆 1,397 therapy sessions provided

But numbers can't capture the whole story.

💙 The REAL impact:

After a brutal chemotherapy session, sometimes you need silence.

After scary test results, sometimes you need distraction.

After good news, sometimes you want to celebrate.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't the cancer. It's asking for help.

Lynsey Ritchie is currently using The Driving Force services to get to her appointments. Her amazing sons wanted to say thank you - not just with words, but with ACTION.

𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 £𝟰,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲! 💙

💪 WHAT THEY DID:

✂️ Shaved their heads - ultimate commitment!
🏃 Cailen ran 10km - pushing through for Mum
🎯 Various fundraising events - pure determination

They raised £1,000 for The Driving Force alone!🫶

💙 WHY THIS MATTERS:

When we help people get to their appointments, we're not just helping one person. We are helping entire families. And sometimes, those families turn around and help us back in the 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨.

Team Ritchie didn't have to do this. But they saw firsthand how The Driving Force are helping take some stress away from their mum during an incredibly difficult time.
