What a find! 👀

It may look a little bit worse for wear now, but this cabinet once stood proudly at Buckingham Palace during Winston Churchill’s era – routing the calls that shaped history🧾

Thankfully it was spotted and rescued from a recycling skip by one of our eagle eyed engineers and now has a home for life at our at our Four Acres site near Ipswich 📍

Just one more way Openreach is connecting the past, present, and future – if only it could talk…☎

School's out. If you are anywhere near Bletchley why not take the kids/grandkids to The National Museum of Computing and check out our Flowers to Fibre exhibition.

Dear Facebook Followers,

I thought you may like to consider taking the next step, unless you are already a member, and become a full member of the Communications Museum Trust.

We are offering a 25% discount on membership for the first year meaning it will cost just £15. Normal cost (at present) is £20

Full members will get discounts on entry to 2 other museums we are working with. These are The National Museum of Computing (TNMOC) in Bletchley Park and the Western Approaches Museum in Liverpool. Details can be sent to you if you want to see them.

We will be reinstalling the Flowers to Fibre exhibition at TNMOC in March and it will be there until December. We restored a UAX13 at the Western Approaches where it is a permanent feature.

Full members also get full access to our online archive which we are working on expanding when we can.
We send out a Newsletter on a Quarterly basis. March, June, September and December.

Finally if you are associated with a museum, perhaps as a volunteer, could you ask if they might be interested in working with us to either take on loan some of our artefacts or any of our temporary exhibitions for a short term and if they are get them to contact us at [email protected]

At Osborne House on the Isle of Wight Queen Victoria was given a demonstration of a telephone by Alexander Graham Bell on 14th January 1878. Calls were made to London, Cowes and Southampton. They were the first long distant calls in the UK

Just a short note from the Admin team. The Communications Museum Trust is more than a Facebook Group/Page. We are a registered Charity whose aim is to encourage, educate and inform people about the history of Telecommunications. We have worked with other museums to put on exhibitions and restore some of their artefacts in recent years and would like to do more of this. However, to do this we need more members to join us. You can view our website at [www.communicationsmuseum.org.uk](http://www.communicationsmuseum.org.uk/) If you are interested in finding out more about us and would like to get a copy of our latest Newsletter, normally only available to Full Members please email [email protected].
