Bath Hunt Saboteurs Bath Hunt Saboteurs - saving wildlife across the South West & beyond... We concentrate on local Foxhunts and Beagle Packs and have acted against Mink hounds.

BATH HUNT SABOTEURS

The group formed in the mid-sixties, its aim then as now being to use non-violent direct action to protect wildlife where it is being threatened, harassed and mutilated in the name of sport. Hunt saboteurs meet every Saturday (and often during the week) during the hunting seasons, which vary depending upon which animal is being hunted. We often join with other groups for regio

nal and national actions. We monitor hunt activity using video cameras, whilst hand-held radios and mobile phones link the saboteurs in the field with the vehicle. Other main tools include:-
Ordnance Survey maps, hunting horns (used together with voice calls to mimic the Huntsman and confuse the hounds), whips (used to stop the hounds if they are on the scent of an animal or in danger of straying onto a main road, railway line etc. Whips are never used by us to hit the hounds but cracked in front of them and sprays are used to mask the scent of a hunted animal – again, these never come into direct contact with the hounds and are harmless, containing citronella-scented water. Hunt Saboteurs use carefully devised tactics to help the hunted animal escape while ensuring NO HARM IS DONE TO THE HUNT OR ANY OF ITS ANIMALS. We also lobby politicians, both locally and nationally, to support the hunting “ban”. We will continue to sabotage hunts until this cruel and unnecessary activity ends for good. We meet the second Monday of each month at 6.30pm in the centre of Bath, please message us if you would like to attend. If you are unable to attend the meetings but would like to support the group please contact us and let us know what involvement you would like to have - perhaps fundraising through street collections. We rely on donations to keep sabbing, please donate using the link on our page- thank you!

In 2021 ITV shared footage of the Beaufort Hunt, shooting hounds in the head and carrying them away in a wheelbarrow. Speaking to ITV Mike Jessop, a fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons expressed grave concerns saying he did not believe the men in the footage were professionally trained at putting animals down.

Even more heartbreaking he said, "In one of the videos, the [hound's] tail was still waggling very vigorously for quite some time, even when the dog was being loaded in the wheelbarrow."

As Megan McCubbin very rightly said recently, "every animal in this situation is a victim." Hunts do not prioritise animal welfare, hounds and horses are seen as expendable tools. As the consultation draws to a close, hunts are professing to love their hounds and are claiming to be worried about their futures. The very real truth is that hounds are prematurely shot to make way for younger hounds.

Hunts do not love hounds; they love exploiting them to fulfil their bloodlust of watching a fox get ripped apart. This shooting of hounds still happens. Together we can end this cycle of cruelty. Please make sure you have completed the consultation into banning 'trail hunting' before the 18th of June. https://www.huntsabs.org.uk/ha-campaign/have-your-say/

Evil fox hunters such as convicted animal abuser Stuart Radbourne (pictured below digging out a fox) and hunts like the Crawley and Horsham whose hunt staff have been caught numerous times and have multiple Hunting Act convictions, are being welcomed into drag hunts and more widely the Master of Draghounds and Bloodhounds Association (MDBA) to beat the ban on so-called “trail” hunting - everyone knows that fox hunts will stop at nothing to keep chasing and killing foxes with packs of dogs, and the MDBA is in their sights to form the new smokescreen if the governments’ ban isn’t strong enough.

In January of this year, the Joint-Master of the Cotswold Vale Farmers Hunt, Nathan Goulding, rode his horse at two female sabs from Welsh Border Hunt Sabs.

He was found guilty of assault and battery and sentenced to a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £676 in costs.

Hunting and violence go hand in hand. You only have to read the comment sections sections on our posts highlighting attacks on women by hunters, to see claims such as, "she was asking for it" and "serves her right".

Hunters are deeply disturbed individuals who enjoy seeing others suffer, whether by attacking innocent, defencless animals or by targeting female sabs. We need to end the smokescreen of "trail hunting" and bring hunting to an end for good.

Please complete the government's trail hunting consultation by 18 June - this is our chance to end the violence.

In 2025 a Beaufort Hunt terrier-man attempted to break into a vehicle - trying to force the handle - as it was waiting in a line of traffic caused by the hunt blocking the road. The unidentified masked man, targeted a female in the passenger seat threatening her “𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘧ck 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤nt”. A clear-cut public order offence for which the police took zero action.

If these types of offences were played out in villages, towns or cities, there would be outrage, police representatives would be reassuring the community that they take Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) seriously - but do it on a country lane on a hunting day as a member of the hunt and the police will turn a blind eye and let you attack and assault women with impunity.

Please complete the consultation and tell the government to ban this barbarism and get these thugs of our streets. Consultation here 👉 https://www.huntsabs.org.uk/ha-campaign/have-your-say/

With just under two weeks remaining before the government consultation closes we will be releasing previously unseen footage of the most barbaric act of cruelty taken place at a hunt. It is horrendous and shocking - and will leave viewers in no doubt to the depraved barbarism of those who partake in blood sports.

Together we can end hunting!

On the 18th of June the government consultation into banning 'trail hunting' will close. This consultation is your chance to have your say, be heard and end hunting.

We need the following changes to the Hunting Act for it to be effective.

🔻 Recklessness clause - to ensure that injury or damage to any animal is a breach of the Act.

🔻 Reversal of the burden of proof to ensure participants are responsible for any action taken with hunting hounds.

🔻 Ban of trail hunting for artificial scent, animal-based or otherwise, to prevent trail hunting from being used as smokescreen for actual hunting.

🔻 Removal of all Hunting Exemptions as they have been used to facilitate actual hunting.

🔻 ‘Hunting’ definition to include the Act of ‘searching for a scent or animal’.

🔻 Criminal penalties to be aligned to Animal Welfare Act 2006.

This week is volunteers' week, and we want to say a massive thank you to each and every saboteur that gives up their valuable time to save lives and expose the truth about blood sports.

The HSA is run by volunteers and has been for over 60 years. We are passionate about protecting wildlife from sadistic hunters and each and every week sabs all over the country head out into often volatile situations, being met with violence and aggression from those who are illegally hunting. But we are a determined and experienced bunch who not only work hard out in the field but also dedicate a lot of time behind the scenes to ensure the safety of our wildlife.

If you would like to support the work we do and become a member of the HSA you can do so at https://www.huntsabs.org.uk/product/join-the-hsa-membership/

Your support helps local sab groups to stay out in the field saving lives.
