ADMP UK is the professional organisation for Dance Movement Psychotherapy in the UK, founded in 1982.

Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) recognises body movement as an implicit and expressive instrument of communication and expression. DMP is a relational process in which client/s and therapist engage in an empathic creative process using body movement and dance to assist integration of emotional, cognitive, physical, social and spiritual aspects of self. DMP is practiced as individual and group t

herapy in settings such as health, education, social services and in private practice. The profession is continually informed by research and by initiatives and projects that open up and extend the field of DMP practice. ADMP UK is the professional organisation for the profession for DMP in the United Kingdom and was originally founded in 1982. ADMP UK aims to support the development of DMP in the UK and internationally; foster communication among Dance Movement Psychotherapists (DMPs); and promote the use of DMP throughout the United Kingdom and abroad. ADMP UK also serves to uphold professional standards within the profession of Dance Movement Psychotherapy and oversees the professional codes of conduct for the profession. ADMP UK works with the other arts therapy (Art Psychotherapy, Dramatherapy, Music Therapy) and psychotherapy organisations in the UK and abroad to develop links and continue to further the profession of Dance Movement Psychotherapy in the UK.

📢 Our AGM 2026 will be held online on 10 October 2026 from 1-4pm.

We're planning to move together and share key updates from Council and committees. There will also be voting to approve the financial accounts, voting of new Council members, and also a vote to approve a special resolution amending the Articles of Association.

📣 Members – join our General Meeting on Tuesday 14 July and have your say.

The meeting will include the re-election of Council members and a consultation on proposed amendments to ADMP's Articles of Association, which were emailed to members last month.

While these amendments will not be voted on at this meeting, this is your chance to hear about the proposed changes, ask questions, and share your views before they are put to a vote at the AGM on Saturday 10 October at 1pm.

Our Members' Forum will follow immediately afterwards, providing an opportunity to connect with fellow members and discuss the issues that matter to our profession.
