Wilmslow In Bloom Council, volunteers, schools and businesses working together to make Wilmslow a nicer place to live, work and visit.

Initially spearheaded by Incredible Edible Wilmslow, the In Bloom group has now grown to include Town Council, Cheshire East Council, Wilmslow Business Group, Chaple Lane Business Group, Fulshaw Women's Institute, Transition Town Wilmslow, Rotary Club of Wilmslow Dean, Friends of the Carrs, Artisan Market - The Market Co., Local Nurseries & Clean Team members.

Wilmslow in Bloom are asked to take on increasing areas to make Wilmslow bloom.

We were working at Wilmslow Station today. Pruning the roses, apple trees and fruit bushes. We planted a Callicarpa in a pot and some heather. We cleared away a lot of dead and overgrown plants, 12 bags worth! We also tackled the apple which has rotted and loose bits were falling off.
Future projects there are to replace the apple and the half barrels.

We have been very busy since January creating a new log garden at the entrances to Wilmslow Leisure Centre and Lyme Design.

Firstly, we were very lucky to get tonnes of bark chippings and huge tree trunks/logs from Neil at Harford Services Tree and Ground Maintenance. Then through Neighbourly (the charity and community organisation) in association with B&Q, we have obtained a variety of plants and have been busy planting this area with bulbs, ferns, small fruit trees, grasses etc all around the Liquidamber tree that stands in the middle of this plot.

We have planted new roses in the Library gardens and will be planting up grove street shortly.

This has all been possible thanks to the milder winter weather this year as the ground is not frozen.

A huge thank you to those organisations that have made this early work possible.

Work at the library beds, weeding, tidying up & putting new rose bushes in where there was space. Then a quick inspection & tidying up of the Lyme beds. Met up with the new WTC team helping keep Wilmslow neat and tidy.

Work continued at the Lyme Design garden. The logs are in we have finished the little fruit trees surrounding the specimen Liquidambar tree in the middle. We have planted ferns and grasses for low maintenance, we will also look for some woodland flowering plants as well.
