Patchwork Foundation The Patchwork Foundation mission is to promote and encourage the positive integration of disadvantage

The Patchwork Foundation aims to promote and encourage the positive integration of deprived and minority communities into British political society. Patchwork or ‘pieced work’ is a form of needlework that involves sewing together pieces of fabric into a larger design. Deprived and minority communities in Britain are a diverse mosaic of people from different cultures, faiths, ethnicities and social backgrounds. Once they are ‘sewed’ together, these diverse communities contribute in a cohesive manner that facilitates a two-way positive interaction with and into British society. The Patchwork Foundation is not affiliated to any political party and does not promote a particular political view. It does however work on the promotion of mainstream political participation and works with the main political parties to support this agenda.

🎓 Masterclass with Nadeem Javaid MBE

Yesterday, our Patchworkers sat down with Nadeem Javaid MBE, who leads the Mayor of London’s work on global engagement and community relations, to talk career, confidence, and finding your place in public life.

A huge thank you to Hogan Lovells Cadwalader for hosting us and for a brilliant dinner, where our Patchworkers took on the “hotseat” - imagining themselves fifteen years from now, having achieved their wildest ambition, and answering as their future selves: where they are, how they got there, and what nearly stopped them along the way...

Yesterday, we hosted our alumni for a masterclass with More in Common, digging into what unites and divides the British public.

Andrew, a researcher at More in Common, walked us through More in Common’s recent Shattered Britain research, which explores how Britain today feels shaped by anxiety, uncertainty and low trust - a widespread sense that things just aren’t working, and one that plays out differently across different communities.

Huge thanks to More in Common, and to their Research Associate Andrew Fowler, for such a brilliant session & thanks to Norton Rose Fulbright for providing a venue with a spectacular view 🌟

If talks like this are your kind of thing, get involved with our programmes!

Mid-Year Review ✅ and what a night it was 🙌

Our 2026 Masterclass cohort came together to reflect on the first half of the programme — the highs, the growth, the challenges, and everything in between. We heard from the Patchworkers themselves on how they’ve found the journey so far and what they’re looking forward to ahead 💙

The evening closed with an incredible networking session hosted by the brilliant team at Hogan Lovells — thank you so much for having us 🤍

A massive thank you also to our 2026 sponsors for making this all possible — Hogan Lovells, KPMG, Flint Global and The Valesco Group. We are so grateful for your support 🙏

The second half starts now 👀🚀

A historic moment for our Patron 🏛️✨
Today, Baroness Farmida Bi delivered her maiden speech in the House of Lords!

As our Founding Chair and current Patron, Farmida has been a tireless champion for young people from underrepresented communities. Her journey to the red benches of Parliament is a testament to the power of representation and the change we’re all working towards.

From supporting our Masterclass Programme to advocating for diversity in public life, Farmida has always believed that every young person deserves a seat at the table where decisions are made.

Now, she’s taking that fight to the House of Lords 💪

Congratulations Baroness Bi – we couldn’t be prouder! The young people we support have a powerful voice in Parliament
