(266)

We offer 1:1 support, a helpline, workshops, and workplace training, using evidence-based, preventative approaches to improve sleep and Many people benefit greatly from weighted therapy, supporting them with a range of issues. There are companies who make therapy products, however few offer tailor-made products. As everyone is unique with their own individual needs & tastes, ‘A Stitch Different’ Community Interest Company decided to use our knowledge of sensory issues & other talents to create bespoke & personalised weighted blankets, vests, sensory toys etc for a fraction of the cost found in specialist stores! A Stitch Different’ Community Interest Company is comprised of Furness parent carers of young people with ASC and related conditions. As active members within our disability community. This ethically based business has been created with the aim of helping local people living with Autism or other disabilities, by providing meaningful activities/employment & the proceeds being reinvested or donated back into our disability community. Most items are made to order but we do have some ‘standard’ items available from stock. All items can be shipped to UK & throughout the world. Directors for

💜 What an amazing day creating NEW Sleep Champions! 💜 💤

Today, we were delighted to welcome a fantastic group of individuals from workplaces, education, health and community organisations across Furness to our brand new CPD Accredited Sleep Champion Training at The Bridge in Barrow.

👏 A huge congratulations to everyone who attended!

🌟 You are now part of something bigger!

By becoming Sleep Champions, you're helping us raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and encourage conversations about sleep within workplaces and communities.

💜 A very special thank you to Vickie Beevers CEO of The Sleep Charity, for joining us in Barrow and co-delivering today's training alongside two of our team (Amanda & Debbie) from the Furness Ability & Sleep Hub.

We are incredibly proud to have secured funding from to bring this valuable training to Furness completely FREE of charge.

💤 Missed out on today's training? Don't worry!

We are planning further Sleep Champion training courses in the coming months.

Future courses will incur a fee but we will do everything we can to keep future courses as affordable and accessible as possible.

Keep an eye on our page for further announcements!

💜 Better Sleep. Better Wellbeing. Stronger Communities.

This is just the beginning! We look forward to seeing the positive difference our new Sleep Champions will make across Furness.

From all of us at A Stitch Different CIC – Furness Ability & Sleep Hub, THANK YOU! 💜

Anyone help get our youth club room up & running again?

Any help greatly appreciated

🧡 HELP US REBUILD YOUTHABILITY – OUR £9,500 CHALLENGE 🧡

We finally have a vision for what the new YouthAbility Centre could look like… now we need your help to make it happen.

As many of you know, we have been out of our centre while major building works have been taking place. Unfortunately, those works have been delayed and, if everything goes to plan, we are now hoping to finally get back into the building around mid-January 2027.

But getting back through the doors is only the beginning.

A lot of our equipment and furniture was either damaged or assessed as no longer safe or suitable to return to the building.

So rather than patching things together, we want to start with a blank canvas and get it right first time.

We want to create a centre designed around the needs of our young people — somewhere that is safe, accessible, welcoming and genuinely inclusive for young people with SEND, while also being a fantastic resource for our wider community.

💷 Our initial target is around £9,500, which will help towards:

🎮 Rebuilding our Gaming & Computer Room
✨ Creating a fully equipped Sensory Room
🔵 Rebuilding our Ball Pit Room
🎨 Bringing our Art Room back to life
🛋️ New modular furniture for our Main Youth Room
💡 New lighting throughout the centre
🛠️ Materials, worktops, storage and other improvements

We also want to create our new “This Is Me” 1-to-1 and counselling room, but we need local joiners/builders to visit us and provide quotations before we can set a fundraising target for this part of the project.

We will be applying for grants locally and nationally and Community Payback will be helping us with much of the work, but we can’t do everything on our own.

🏢 Could your business sponsor a room or piece of equipment?

🔨 Are you a local tradesperson who could donate some time or offer a discounted price?

🧱 Could your business donate building materials, worktops, furniture or equipment?

💷 Could you organise a fundraiser or make a donation?

❤️ Or could you simply SHARE THIS POST and help us reach somebody who can?

We know £9,500 is a big ask, but we’re not asking one person or one business to find £9,500.

Every £5, every donated item, every hour of someone’s time and every share gets us another step closer.

The pictures below show our proposed designs and our vision for what these spaces could become. They aren’t finished rooms yet — they’re what we’re working towards.

Our young people deserve a centre they can be proud of.

Same young people. Bigger, brighter future. 🧡

If you think you, your workplace or your business could help us, please send YouthAbility a message.

🙏 Thank you for continuing to support us.

Let’s rebuild YouthAbility together.
