Sonian Explorer Scouts had our 1st meeting of 2026 together with some of British Scouting Overseas's Lone Explorers and Hibiscus Explorers, Kuala Lumpur.
It was a fantastic online cooking challenge which got the Explorers whipping up a 2-course meal for their families (with a budget of 20EUR) whilst ensuring they incorporate at least 1 of our Scout Values into their planning, preparation and/or presentation. The Explorers were asked to explain the Scout values they had used and it was really lovely to hear their thoughts. One Explorer talked about Respect for the environment and towards his mum by helping her to clean up after cooking whilst another spoke about Integrity - that he was not very good at cooking and was being honest about it, so chose something relatively easy to do! Well done to all the Explorers and many thanks to all the Leaders who made it possible!

Apply to be our BSO First Aid Lead

We’re looking for a volunteer to support learning and the development of our volunteers across the Area.

The role will focus on supporting our adult volunteers with accessing First Aid courses which meet the First Aid Course requirement in The Scouts. This will include reviewing syllabus for 3rd party led courses and providing comfort and confirmation that these courses meet our requirements and/or sign posting access to additional First Aid learning through the Hampshire model or online learning to top up learning.

We're recruiting a Technical volunteer for our BSO Heritage Team

We’re looking for someone with technical skills to support our project to preserve British Scouting Overseas ( and its predecessors) History, so that the content we collect and curate can be online and accessible with the minimal need for updating and software upgrades.

Ideally you will have skills and knowledge in creating websites for historical content, creating secure websites and able to work with none tecnical colleagues to put these concepts across.

We’re looking for a volunteer to lead and develop the Young Leader Scheme across British Scouting Overseas.

The role will focus on supporting our Young Leaders and those engaged in delivering the Young Leader programme, including delivery of YL Training Modules and supporting our adult volunteers to develop the skills to delivery the Young Leader Scheme.
