🌟 FEEDBACK FRI-YAY 🌟

Another happy client! 😊

This client was finding it increasingly difficult to use their bath, so following a recommendation from Occupational Therapy, a new level-access shower was installed to help them remain safe and independent at home.

The project was supported every step of the way by our fantastic team:
🏠 Debbie, our Caseworker, who guided the client through the process.
📐 Nigel, our Technical Officer, who prepared the plans and liaised with contractors.
📞 Andrew, our Administrator, who coordinated everyone involved to keep the project moving smoothly.

👏 Well done to everyone involved in delivering another successful adaptation and making a real difference to a Powys resident's daily life.

If you, or someone you know, if struggling to love at home independently, please get in touch with us and we can offer advice, guidance and support. www.crpowys.co.uk

Every adaptation completed, every home made safer — it all makes a difference. 💚
We’re recruiting a Minor Adaptations Officer to join our passionate team at Care & Repair in Powys.

🌟Minor Adaptations Officer with Care & Repair in Powys🌟

❓Do you enjoy daily practical work that really makes a difference to people’s lives? Are you friendly, reliable, and happy working independently? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

🏠Care & Repair in Powys is looking for a Minor Adaptations Officer to join our dedicated team, helping older and disabled people live safely and independently in their own homes.

🔧About the Role
As a Minor Adaptations Officer, your day will consist of visiting multiple clients in their homes across Powys to assess, measure, and complete the fitting of small adaptations that improve safety and independence. These can include:
• Internal grab rails in bathrooms, kitchens, hallways etc
• External grab rails on exterior walls such as brick and stone
• Half steps (internal wooden and external paving slab)
• Galvanised rails
• Key safes
You’ll work directly with clients in their own homes, some in complex situations, so an empathetic, respectful, clean and professional approach is essential.

😀About You
We’re looking for someone who:
• Has a background in construction or demonstrable trade/handy person skills, specifically in the proficient use of power tools.
• Can interpret measurements, diagrams, and floor plans in a domestic home environment.
• Has excellent communication skills and a warm, approachable nature.
• Is resilient. Some of our clients live in complex situations and empathy and resilience are key.
• Is organised, clean and able to work unsupervised to daily, busy schedules
• Can problem-solve and adapt to different, complex situations
• You’ll need a good level of physical fitness, as the role involves practical tasks such as bending, driving, lifting, working outdoors, and regularly navigating stairs in clients’ homes.
• Holds a valid, clean driving licence and is confident to travel daily across rural and urban Powys
• Please note: this role is subject to a standard DBS check.

🌟What We Offer
• 40 hours per week, full-time, permanent
• Annual salary of £29,449
• All tools, work/PPE clothing and a work van.
• Annual leave and flexi-time policy.
• Training opportunities to develop skills.
• A rewarding role with real impact in local communities.
• A supportive and friendly team – we have team building days, wellbeing lunches and we care about our colleagues.

📆Key Dates
Closing date: Monday 1st June at noon
Interview: Monday 8th June, day to include interview and joining current colleagues to complete client visits to assess your practical skills
We will assess practical skills as part of the recruitment process to ensure a solid baseline. However, equally important is finding the right person for Care & Repair in Powys and the clients we support. We’re not expecting someone to arrive with every skill in place—training and development will be provided—but a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a good fit with our existing colleagues and values are essential.

📝How to Apply
We are proud to be an Age-Friendly Employer and welcome applications from people of all ages, recognising the value that a diverse range of skills, experience and knowledge brings to our team. However, this is an active, hands-on role, so applicants should consider whether the physical demands of the position are suitable for them.

🌟👀EXCITING NEW JOB OPPORTUNITY👀🌟
📏Technical Officer
📍Hybrid – Newtown office / home-based (primarily South Powys)

💚At Care & Repair in Powys, we help older people and those with disabilities live safely, independently, and comfortably in their own homes.
We’re looking for a Technical Officer who combines technical expertise with compassion—someone who understands that behind every adaptation is a person whose life is being improved.
This is more than just a technical role. It’s about problem-solving, collaboration, and delivering meaningful change every single day.

🏠About the role
As a Technical Officer, you’ll manage a varied caseload of home adaptations—from minor works such as stairlifts, to larger, life-changing projects involving multiple areas within a home. You’ll work closely with clients, Occupational Therapists, contractors, and partners to ensure high-quality outcomes.
You’ll be involved from start to finish—visiting clients at home to design an adaptation from Occupational Health recommendations to suit their needs, creating detailed schedules of works, and overseeing projects through to completion.

😃What you’ll be doing
• Visiting clients in their homes to understand their needs and design a suitable adaptation based on Occupational Therapy recommendations.
• Taking accurate measurements, drawing detailed floorplans and creating a schedule of work adhering to strict grant funding requirements.
• Visiting clients and giving advice on home improvements to ensure their home is warm and safe.
• Managing contractors and overseeing works on site where required.
• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.
• Working closely with Occupational Therapists and Powys County Council throughout the grants process.
• Keeping accurate records and managing your own caseload and time effectively
• Building strong relationships with colleagues and partner organisations to ensure the best client outcomes.

👀Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is:
• Experienced in construction, surveying, or property-related work
• Experienced in taking measurements and drawing accurate floor plans using Cad software or equivalent.
• Experience of appropriate procurement route (e.g. tender or schedule of rates) being transparent and accountable for decision-making at all times
• Confident managing projects and contractors
• Organised and able to manage a varied workload
• A strong communicator who can work with a wide range of people
• Passionate about improving people’s homes and quality of life
• Experience of working with adaptations, grants, or vulnerable clients would be a real advantage—but not essential.

🌟What we offer
• 35 hours per week, full-time, permanent
• Annual salary of £34,850
• Annual leave and flexi-time policy.
• Training opportunities to develop skills.
• A rewarding role with real impact in local communities.
• A supportive and friendly team – we have team building days, wellbeing lunches and we care about our colleagues.
