Huge thanks to Wildcroft Dairy for hosting another very successful Farmer's Market at Rokers today.

Yes it was hot and very busy but we met so many lovely people with their dogs. We managed to raise appropriately £170 so thank you for your generosity. As a not for profit organisation, all monies raised go straight back to the dogs in our care.

We're scheduled to be back on Remembrance Sunday, 9 November. Hope to see you there!

Due to the ongoing high temperatures, we have taken the decision NOT to attend this event on Sunday. We will however, be attending on Sunday 9 August.

Just to be clear that the Farmers' Market is STILL TAKING PLACE.

Last weekend I carried out a Canine Behavioural training session with a couple who had adopted a greyhound 9 months ago (not from G4U). They were really struggling with him despite having had a greyhound before. The situation was becoming so serious, they were questioning whether they were the right home for the dog and vice versa.

Three hours of training and one week later, here is some of their feedback. They are happy for me to share but have asked if I can keep it anonymous.

"Since seeing you last Sunday things have been going so much better! The Canny collar has made a complete change. For a week mu husband & I walked him together (just to see how things went) - and this morning we both felt confident enough for me to walk him by myself. This was the first time since April and it's going to make such a positive difference for my husband and me to be able to share the doggie duties.

Thank you so much for giving us both the confidence to turn things around. All three of us have had a much more relaxed and happy week! ☺️ 😊 😃"

Here we go again with ridiculously high temperatures in the south of the UK this week. Certainly looking at the forecast, there will be a couple of days where my lot will NOT be going for a walk as the air temperature is not forecast to drop much. They will have to make do with the garden and to be honest, when it's that hot, they don't care. Please don't risk your sighthound just for the sake of a walk.

For those of you training your greyhounds and lurchers to live with small animals, take heart. It is very possible with time and patience.

On Sunday 14 June, Debbie ran another of her sighthound Master Classes. 14 dogs were in attendance including greyhounds, lurchers and a whippet.

Here's some of the feedback from the day:

"Another absolutely brilliant training day! Some valuable insight on pack dynamics we will now be working through , and really great to talk with so many other greyhound, lurcher and whippet owners about their experiences.
Unsurprisingly, Poppy has worn herself out entirely."

"Jim and Syd are knackered too. Syd has barely left the sofa since we got home. Grateful for the advice today, it made a lot of sense and look forward to implementing the changes that should hopefully help Syd's behaviour."

"Oh my goodness, we were all tired but left with a positive feeling about our Fudge, he's a work in progress and may never achieve his full potential due to whatever occurred in his life before rescue. The whole day was well organised and the information regarding dangerous dogs act was well received.
Thanks to Debbie for arranging the day and providing the training, it was well worth travelling from Worcestershire. We all went home feeling happy with how the day went."

"A huge thank you for the day. I understand Aubrey a little more each time and how we need to adjust our behaviour with her. I really enjoy the chats with everyone as we can learn from each other.
We had two very tired girls that slept most of yesterday!"

I am extremely sad to report that Ruby, our beautiful little pocket rocket passed to the Bridge last night. Over recent weeks she had been unwell but rapidly deteriorated over the weekend and the decision was made to let her pass.

Our thoughts and love are with Kerensa and her son Reggie. Run fast and free Ruby Doodles and have fun with all the other G4U hounds who have passed before you. 🌈💜
