It's like they know!
Only 4 weeks ago at Warwick we were talking about technology and psychology, and unsurprisingly most conversations turned to AI, and look! The Psychologist is jumping on our bandwagon.

Join us for a relaxed and friendly day exploring the heart of the OU. Our day will start with coffee and chats at The Hub, a friendly spot where you can grab a hot drink and treat before heading over to the Walton Hall campus Library to explore the resources available, browse the shelves, and take in the beautiful surroundings. As we wrap up our annual weekend conference, Psychology and Technology in Modern Life, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended. It was wonderful to see you all there, engaging in thoughtful, interesting discussions, battling it out for the legendary Fred’s quiz, and helping to create such a warm atmosphere. We hope everyone had a fantastic time and took something valuable away from the event.

We also took this opportunity to recognise and thank our Books Officer, Dave, who is leaving OUPS.
Dave first joined OUPS as a student over two decades ago and went on to become a long-standing member of the committee, supporting the organisation and its members for many years. He has dedicated an enormous amount of time to managing our book stalls and ensuring there was always a great selection of psychology books available for students and psychology enthusiasts at OUPS events.

It’s clear how valued and respected Dave is within the OUPS community, and his presence, commitment and kindness will be greatly missed and we very much hope to welcome him back at future OUPS events.

Safe journey home!

Not long to go!

Our Annual Conference returns in just about a week and a half, with a weekend dedicated to exploring the interplay between psychology and technology in today’s fast-changing world.

Across three days, leading speakers will examine how psychological research and practice are responding to – and shaping – the impact of technology on society, relationships, work and human identity.

This is an opportunity to reflect on emerging trends, exchange insights, and connect with fellow students, researchers, and practitioners interested in the future of psychology in a high-tech era.

Speakers:
• Frederick Toates: The Graham Mitchell Memorial Lecture – “What is special about being human?”
• Jim Handley: Psychology and technology in modern work
• Lance Workman: Are we ill-matched to new technology? – An evolutionary perspective
• Neil Frude: (1) The Technological Future of Social Intimacy. (2) Armageddon, Utopia, Extinction? THE IMMINENT CHALLENGE
• Monika McNeil: Ignored in Plain Sight: The Impact of Smartphone Use on Mental Health and Human Connection

Looking forward to seeing you there! 😊

• Working with organisations and leaders on real-world challenges.
• The skills that turn academic knowledge into meaningful impact.
